Who: Amycus Carrow and Antonin Dolohov
Where: The Ministry of Magic
When: 3 December 2001
Status: Complete

Amycus dreaded this Monday more than he normally dreaded Mondays. For one, he'd had the entire weekend off, and this meant that any weekend emergencies that had cropped up over the last two days would be in files on his desk waiting for his input. The last time he took an entire weekend to himself, there was an uprising at the Centaur reservation and he had to review and stamp approval on at least seven requests for euthenasia.

His 'rejected' stamp rarely got used.

His other reason for dreading this particular Monday wasn't the morning meeting or the general sluggish Monday-like behaviour of the personnel who worked beneath him, nor was it the fact that Alecto had appointments all day and would not be home until just before supper (this was quite distressing).

Amycus' reason for dreading this Monday was that it was the first Monday of December and, even though the entire Ministry was under the thumb of the greatest wizard that ever lived, someone still hadn't explained to the building that jolly decorations had no place. Sure enough, as it had with other "first Mondays" swags of holly and pine littered the lobby and the entrance hall. Wreaths hung around the necks of the creatures in the main fountain.

And somewhere, someone was singing blasted carols.

The only thing he was thankful for was that the magic that arranged this mass decoration of the Ministry... hadn't ever been influenced by the Muggle way of life. Decorating as early as All Saint's Day... it was awful.

Amycus cast a quick incendio at everything holly or holly-like in his department before taking a seat at his desk. A withering sigh fell from his lips when he saw the large stack of folders. Couldn't these peons handle anything while he was gone? Apparently not.
