(no subject)
i was on the subway the other day. i was going to work on the upper west side and i thought i would just talk to someone. anyone. someone on that subway.
just take off my headphones and say hello/how are ya/ what are you reading.... but then i just didn't do it. i stood there in the dreamworld of my i-pod and just stared at everyone around me, everything around me. and not wanting to disrupt my calm musical existence by ripping myself away from my inner reflection, i just stood there and stared for the 15 minutes i had left in my journey.
i think that's why i wear headphones, it's my world just outside the reach of other people, if only just for a subway ride.
