we finally explore our own downtown...

Today was another wonderful day in the life of Reid and Kaitlin. He set the alarm for 8 even though his appointment wasn't until 9:40, so we just lay around for awhile. Then while he was in his appointment I escaped the freezing waiting room full of old people and bad upholstery and went in search of a Starbucks. He thought he would be in there for awhile. I wasn't surprised, though, when he called maybe 15 minutes later while I was still out. I was really proud of myself for not getting lost. I do that a lot in Greensboro. I found a Panera in The Village at N. Elm which I never knew existed, and I got a french toast bagel with honey and walnut cream cheese and a low fat organic yogurt strawberry smoooothieeee...after practicing my roundabout driving skills a couple times. Of course, after I went back and got Reid I had to show him the place I'd found, so back we went again. On the way out I saw a Bruegger's and a Starbucks, the latter of which Reid ran into to get an orange cream frapuccino, I think because it reminds him of New Haven and New York.
We started driving back toward Wendover and decided to just go downtown for awhile, since it was not even 11 and neither of us had to work until 3. We parked at the library because we meant to go there, but then he took me over to City Stage? where he and his mom used to go every Thursday so she could take dance lessons. On the way to the dance room we passed the symphony practicing in a room with the door open. We went into the art gallery on the second floor and looked at every piece. It felt so cool to know that all of the artists lived nearby. Now Reid wants to sell his stuff in there too :)
We went across the street to the little park, I guess Festival Park? where all the fountains are and we ran under them. Man, I don't know anything about my city. I guess I never bothered because I live in Jamestown and I thought High Point was more of my city...but I claim Greensboro now.
We walked around for awhile, went to some shops. We saw a store with bubbles coming out of the side of the building and started towards it, but then I saw the Green Bean. We saw a philosophy professor from Elon in there, apparently he just moved to Elon. I interviewed him twice last year but neither of those stories got in the paper :/ I asked the guy behind the counter about doing an Invisible Children screening there and he gave me a girl's email address so, we'll see! Then we got to the bubbling store, and I can't remember what it was called but it was amazing and I loved everything inside and I know Reid took note ;) Then we went into Glitters and admired the paraphernalia haha and he bought me a disc for disc golf :D Finally we went to Fincastles and our hometown excursion came to a close :)
