nothinbutherain Brief history of your character (100-200 words):
Daughter of an abusive, career military mother and a musician father, Kara grew up on the colony of Caprica. She left home to join the military where, despite misconduct complaints from her superior officers, she discovered a love and talent for being a Viper pilot. She spent some time after graduation in active duty, and then working as a flight instructor. There, she met and fell in love with one of her students, Zak Adama, who later died in a routine flight mission, which Kara still feels responsible for. She left instruction and went back to active duty, this time on the Battlestar Galactica, where she served under Zak's father, Commander William Adama, who became a close friend and father figure.
Kara had served on the Galactica for two years before the Cylon attacks on the Twelve Colonies. During the ensuing Cylon War, Kara showed herself to be a valuable member of the Galactica crew, often undertaking dangerous missions. Convinced she could help find a way to the mythical Thirteenth Colony, Earth, Kara took on some missions of her own, often defying direct orders and putting herself in danger. On one such mission, told by the Cylon Leoben that she had a "destiny," Kara disappeared into a storm in her Viper, only to return to Galactica unscathed after two months, claiming to have been to Earth. She fell into a depression when she was met with suspicion for her apparent resurrection; it was only when she discovered a signal pointing to Earth again that she was trusted.
Kara's signal led the Galactica and the rest of the fleet to Earth -- and they found it to be destroyed, apparently nuked centuries ago. Once again, Kara had failed. It is in this frame of mind that she enters the Hotel California.
Brief synopsis of your character's personality (100-300 words):
On the surface, Kara is tough, brash, reckless, and has a problem with authority. She tends towards self-destructive behaviors such as drinking too much, gambling, chain smoking, fighting, and undertaking dangerous missions without concern for her own safety. She's no stranger to the military brig, and has the rap sheet to prove it. She's arrogant about her skills as a Viper pilot and isn't afraid who knows it. Kara believes life is full of pain, and that anger keeps her alive -- something her abusive mother taught her.
In contrast, Kara is also extremely loyal (sometimes to a fault) and fiercely protective of those she cares about. She has a nurturing side which she doesn't allow many to see, but that was evident as she cared for an injured little girl she believed to be her own, and as she nursed her husband through an illness. She is very sexual, and has been in love with at least three men in her recent past: Zak Adama, his brother Lee Adama, and her husband Samuel Anders. While she does not believe in divorce, she does not have a problem with adultery.
Kara is also very spiritual, and frequently prays to the Lords of Kobol, particularly Artemis and Aphrodite, when she or someone she knows is in trouble. Until recently, she believed that she had a spiritual destiny to lead her people to Earth.
GAME SPECIFIC INFORMATION
What is the point of your character's canon in which you are introducing your character?:
Kara enters the hotel directly following the events in
Revelations, the season 4.0 finale.
Is your character alive or dead at the point of entry to the game?: alive
What skills does your character have?:
Despite her not-so-occasional recklessness, Kara is an extremely talented Viper pilot, perhaps the best ever. She's also shown herself to be a good battle tactician, especially when the battle necessitates slightly unorthodox and dangerous plans. She's a good person to have in a fight - both in space and in person - provided you stay on her good side. She's a skilled Pyramid player; only a knee injury kept her from going pro. Kara is also quite the card shark; triad's her game. Don't even think about betting against her, unless you want to lose all your money. She is also an avid painter.
