Title: Myths Side Story: Persephone
pairings: yewook
rating: PG-13
disclaimer: i own no one and nothing
A/N: this is based off of a greek myth but of course a lot of things were changed.

Yesung slowly tapped his fingers together as he glanced around his bedroom, a “hmmm” sound escaping his lips. His eyes roamed over the cave-like walls of the room, made of dark shining obsidian. He had some of his servants polish the, already sparkling, black rock for his upcoming arrival.
He wondered if his bed’s black comforter and silky red sheets seemed too sinful for someone as pure as Ryeowook to sleep on. He didn’t want the darkness of the underworld to scare the younger god after he kidnaps him.

“Something wrong, my majesty?” A servant asked as he entered the room noticing Yesung staring at his bed.

“Do you think they are too frightening?”

“What?”

“The sheets.” Yesung answered.

“If you are worried about them, may I suggest you change the color. To maybe a blue or soft yellow?” The servant suggests.

“You mean blue like the awful sea! The sea I should rule! And yellow like those thunderbolts that-that traitor uses!” Yesung screamed angrily, not necessarily even at the servant, “If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t have to kidnap someone for a little attention!” Yesung’s voice went from outraged to pathetic. And a pout tugged on his lips.

“I-I’m sorry sir.” The servant bowed preparing to leave the room, he then stopped at the doorway. “Oh, your majesty, you wanted me to tell you when Ryeowook is in the plains of Enna. He’s picking flowers.”

Yesung smiled slightly imagining his sweet fragile, Ryeowook holding flowers up to his cute little nose and taking in the delightful scent. It painted such a peaceful imagine in the underworld’s ruler’s mind. “Thank you.” Yesung dismissed the servant, taking one last glance around his room. He let out a heavy sigh knowing this was as close to perfect he could make a chamber in palace of the underworld look. He felt slightly bad not being able to give Ryeowook the life of living on a golden cloud.

Yesung then shook his head as if to shake away the burdensome thoughts. He had other things to think of, like exactly how to kidnap Ryeowook, too bad Kibum didn’t exaggerate on the plot when warning him not to do it, now he would just have to wing it.

Yesung walked down the passage way he had made, that leads to the plains of Enna, so he could abduct Ryeowook easily. He knew the younger god loved to go there because of the delicious aroma. As he neared the surface the strong scent of flowers began to fill his nostrils, the scent toying with his emotions, bring a small smile to his pale face.

As he grew closer the ground parted open for him to exit, the harsh rays of sunlight burned his eyes as he stepped foot onto the world of the living. As his eyes adjusted Ryeowook’s thin frame came into sight, the younger immortal’s eyes were on him, curiously watching him.

“Y-Yesung.” The younger god stuttered bowing slightly to show respect for the elder. “What brings you here?”

Yesung forced his nerves to be locked up in his mind, letting his more sly personality seep out, attaching a small smirk to his lips. “You,” He whispered, letting his finger tips traced Ryeowook’s jaw line.

“Oh-I-I.” Ryeowook began to choke on his own words as his face flushed. “Y-you must mean you came to pick flowers with me.” Ryeowook smiled innocently, kneeling down into the flower bed and picking up a large sunflower. He then held it out to Yesung. “Hyung, isn’t it beautiful?” He looked hopeful.

“I’ve seen things more beautiful.” Yesung kept eye contact with Ryeowook, noticing how Ryeowook’s breathing began to slow because of the searing gaze. Yesung finally turned away dancing down at the earth’s floral carpet. He took a few steps before picking up a flower and returning to Ryeowook.

“Tell me, Wookie, do you know the meanings behind all these flowers?” Yesung questioned his fingers running over the large soft white petals of the flower in his hand. It’s milky color and smooth texture reminded Yesung of the younger immortal’s own skin.

“I know some…” Ryeowook responded nervously, afraid of a quiz.

“What’s the meaning of this one?” Yesung questioned placing the large blossom in the younger god’s delicate hands. He then began to circle around Ryeowook.

“I..I don’t know, I’m sorry.” Ryeowook held his head low in defeat.

“I love you in secret.” Yesung’s breath washed over Ryeowook’s neck, making the younger of the two straighten up.

“What?” Ryeowook turned around to gaze at the older deity.

“I love you in secret.” Yesung’s eyes looked challengingly into Ryeowook’s. “it’s what the flower means, secret love, or you are so lovely.”

“oh.” Ryeowook thought that by the clarification of what the other immortal said would calm his nerves but he felt it only made the air more tense.

“What have you never seen a gardenia before?” Yesung questioned. “it’s the only flower that can begin to compare with your beauty.”

“I-I’m not-”

“Yes you are.” Yesung answered before Ryeowook even got to finish his sentence.

“Oh, well thank you..” Ryeowook whispered, looking down taking a few small steps backwards. “I think I should get going…” Ryeowook turned to leave but was stopped by an arm wrapping around his waist.

“Where are you of to in such a hurry?” Yesung questioned leaning his forehead against Ryeowook’s.

“n-no where, I just was supposed to meet with my mother.”

“You’ll have to apologize to her for me, for making you late.” Yesung whispered his eyes staring deep into Ryeowook’s making the younger man feel entranced. He was so entranced he didn’t noticed the earth swallowing them.

“I-it’s no big deal,” Ryeowook replied shakily, his cheeks turning pink as he noticed he could feel Yesung’s breath upon him. As he glanced away Ryeowook noticed how much darker it had gotten. “What… where are we?” Ryeowook look around frantically.

“Don’t worry, we’re home.” Yesung replied calmly, grabbing Ryeowook’s wrist to lead him down the passage way.

“h-home?” Ryeowook’s eyes widened as he was being dragged along. “Th-this isn’t my home! My home is up there.”

“Not anymore.” Yesung hated the tone of his own voice but he didn’t want to show weakness until he knew Ryeowook was safely in his grasp for good.

“What?” Ryeowook’s voice sounded like a little kid who was just told his first pet died. Yesung didn’t reply but just dragged Ryeowook quietly behind him, the thoughts running through his head drowned out the younger immortal’s objections. The more they walked on the more the warmth Yesung felt from Ryeowook faded. He wanted to turn around and hug him and say sorry for kidnapping him, but he didn’t.

They passed by the river of souls, hearing the skin crawling screams they let out as they realized it was death that visited them. Ryeowook stared horrified at the sight.

“Please let me go.” The soft request made Yesung stop in his tracks, was he really such a terrible person to be around?

“I-” Yesung turned around to reply, but froze at the sight of Cerberus licking Ryeowook all over. One large tongue went up the side of the young immortal’s face, leaving globs of drool of where it had been. Ryeowook’s hair was now a ratted mess as the three headed dog continued its hair styling.

“St-stop it!” Ryeowook at first spoke frightened , trying to back away from the large snouts of the dog. The dog let out a small whimper as one head nudged Ryeowook playfully while the other one continued to lick Ryeowook’s head.

As Yesung stood watching he felt anger rise in his throat, he knew he should have hired a stupid dog trainer, if only he wasn’t so stingy. Panic set in when the thought of this dog attack could make Ryeowook want to leave even more.

“Stop!” Yesung cried out, trying to pull Ryeowook away from the dog. “No, no stop!” Yesung pleaded as the dogs began to lick him now. “You can’t act this way in front of our guest! He doesn’t want your slobber on him! Pleeeaaase!” Yesung begged grabbing one of the heads and holding it still. “I said no,” he flicked it on the nose, the only thing that resulted from that was a shake of its head before going back to licking him.

Ryeowook watched intensely as he realized he had no idea of who this deity standing in front of him really was. Was this the real Yesung he was seeing? The goofy desperate god that couldn’t even control his own pet? Was they way he was just acting fake? Was he not sly and full of smirks? Ryeowook decided he liked the guy he saw before him now. The one covered in slime and dog hair as he tried to talk down a beast.

“Sit? No, stop! Fetch?” Yesung tried to see if any of these commands phased his pet, he pouted when they didn’t.

“Sit.” Ryeowook whispered in one of the dog’s head. The dog immediately sat up straight obeying the command.

“Oh I love you!” Yesung called out hugging Ryeowook close. Ryeowook was stiff in the hug from shock unsure of how he felt at the moment. “ And you what’s going on here?” Yesung asked staring bewildered at the three heads. “I have lived with you and fed you for all of your life and you still don’t listen to me!” Yesung’s voice sounded more like a whine then angry.

Ryeowook giggled slightly by the look on Yesung’s face as he scolded his pet. “He loves you.” Yesung smiled as he turned to his captive. “He doesn’t even love me.” Yesung spoke in disbelief, earning a lick of the back of his head from Cerberus.

“No no, Cerberus loves you, he just doesn’t respect you.” Ryeowook replied giggling.

“Aww unfair.” Yesung pouted.

“You’re so cute.” Ryeowook smiled.

That word finally hit Yesung hard, he just realized he was letting the real him slip out and he felt he needed to do something to bring the sly him back out. “I think you’re pretty cute too.” His lips ghosted over Ryeowook’s cheeks making them turn crimson.

Luckily for both Ryeowook and Yesung, Eunhyuk arrived breaking up the awkward situation. “Yesung!” Eunhyuk breathed, obviously tired of flying and running, “Hankyung is going on a war path! He wants his child back N-O-W, now! He is threatening to make the earth infertile which means the mortals are going to die of starvation! You need to fix this! And soon, Kibum is looking for you.”

“Erm..” Yesung’s forehead wrinkled in thought. He then removed his arms from around Ryeowook, which was where they were for the past few minutes. “I’m sorry I have to go, feel free to wander around, trust me, you have no enemies here.” Yesung smiled at Ryeowook before running off to his chariot.

As he approached his chariot he saw a random soul standing near it looking confused. “Sir where am I?” The ghost of an old man questioned.

“The underworld.” Yesung replied as he got his chariot ready.

“Am-Am I dead?” The man questioned shock.

“No this is where they send people who are alive.” Yesung replied sarcastically not needing this to slow him down on his quest. As soon as he was out of the underworld Yesung knew where he was going. He went to the island of Crete where he knew Kangin would be trying to seduce Jungsu. The sight he saw was not what he expected. Kangin was kneeling in the sand looking over shocked at Jungsu was clearly speaking his mind. Apparently Jungsu wasn’t as easy as a catch Kangin thought he would be.

“Okay, listen I know I am interrupting your love fest but I have some serious problems! I kidnapped Ryeowook, now Hankyung is out to get me and Heechul is scouring the earth looking for you so… I say you come with me and ditch this mortal or Heechul will torture you forever!” Yesung rambled as he looked around nervously.

“Umm okay let’s go.” Kangin stood up and got onto the chariot. Once they were off the island he turned to Yesung. “Okay how can I help you? All I am is the ruler of Olympus not ruler of Hankyung’s emotions.”

“I need to find a way to keep Ryeowook…. He makes me feel alive in the land of the dead.”

“Well then just make him eat something from the underworld so he will be bound to it, simple as that. Now could you drop me off at Cyprus so it will look like id dint help you.” Kangin requested.

“Thank you so much!” Yesung bowed respectfully for the first time at the other god as he let him out of the chariot. Yesung didn’t hear Kangin call out ‘Good luck!’ because he was already half way to the underworld.

When he got to the underworld, he raced through the palace searching for his prisoner, his savoir. He slowed down his steps when he noticed Ryeowook sleeping peacefully on his bed. The dark sheets didn’t see to match Ryeowook’s innocent happy image, but Yesung’s bed had never look so good. Yesung tiptoed over to the bed, stroking Ryeowook’s silky dark hair, that contrasted beautifully with his light skin.

“Errmm,” Ryeowook mumbled rolling over.

“Hey Wookie, time to get up.” Yesung spoke smoothly. Slwoly the younger god’s eyes fluttered open, a frown crossed his lips when he noticed the man that took him captive.

“Hankyung is going to come get you soon. I’m sorry for kidnapping you.” Yesung stared at the ground.

“I-It’s okay…” Ryeowook sat up.

“No its not.” Yesung let out a sigh of defeat. “And I’m sorry I was a bad host while I had you. I didn’t offer you any food while you are here so you must be hungry.”

“A little.” Ryeowook replied quietly.

“Here have a pomegranate,” Yesung held out the fruit to the younger god.

“Thank you,” Ryeowook smiled gratefully.

Yesung bit his lip as he watched Ryeowook slowly bring the fruit to his lips, and open his mouth to take a bite. “Stop!” Yesung yelled snatching the fruit out fo the young immortal’s hands.

“What?” Ryeowook asked shocked.

“I’m sorry, that was a trick, an evil trick to force you to stay.” Yesung threw the fruit angrily. “But I don’t want to make you unhappy, all I want is you happy. And this is the most miserable place to be, especially with someone you don’t like. I’m sorry.” Yesung turned his back to Ryeowook, afraid tears might come from his eyes.

Ryeowook, bit his own lip in consideration. He was finally getting the whole picture. Yesung wasn't a scary kidnapper, he was just a god desperate for attention and he only lived with dead people, annoying dead people. His pet didn’t even like him and to be truthful he didn’t have any friends. He was just alone, looking for someone to notice him. Looking for someone to turn this underworld for mortals into a home for him.

Ryeowook slipped off the bed and picked up the pomegranate where Yesung had thrown it. Although Ryeowook would never say it, he felt alone on earth, Hankyung turned down any suitors that came. And for the first time in a long time he had truly smiled while watching Yesung get mauled by his own pet. Maybe in some weird way they completed each other.

Yesung turned around to see Ryeowook bite into the fruit. “No don’t!” Yesung pleaded, he grabbed Ryeowook in a hopeful attempt to stop him from swallowing.

“I want to be with you,” Ryeowook whispered shyly, opening his mouth to show he had already swallowed the food.

“Now you are stuck here!”

“Stuck here with someone I like.” Ryeowook smiled.

“Oh shit,” Eunhyuk’s voice interrupted the moment. “You ate the fruit! Damn it! Hankyung will kill me! He doesn’t want you in this dark gloomy place!”

“Hey! This is my home you are talking about!” Yesung whined.

“My home too,” Ryeowook let Yesung hug him.

“Okay, okay, listen Hankyung wants to take this to all of the Olympian gods, if we don’t come to an agreement right now!” Eunhyuk began to pace.

“How about they have like joint custody of me? I’m with each half a year?” Ryeowook suggested.

“Hmm I guess that will have to work I mean you ate the fruit! But I think Hankyung will want you to be with him first, and talk him down. Oh and I think he‘ll want you two thirds of the year.” Eunhyuk felt himself breathe.

“Umm alright.” Ryeowook frowned, he was just starting to get to know Yesung.

“Alright, lets go right now!” Eunhyuk pointed walking out the door.

“I’ll miss you.” Ryeowook sighed.

“Cerberus will miss you, and you know I will. If after a few months you don’t want to come back, I’ll understand if you stay there.” Yesung tried to keep the sadness out of his voice.

“If I don’t come back, who will make Cerberus stop licking you?” Ryeowook smiled.

“Mmm very true…. Ryeowook?”

“Yeah?” Ryeowook looked up into Yesung’s sad eyes.

“Can I kiss you… goodbye?”

“…yes…” Ryeowook was almost afraid to say he wanted it. Yesung then slowly at first pushed his lips against Ryeowook’s, but as soon as Ryeowook responded, Yesung pulled him closer to deepen the kiss, he wanted to taste Ryeowook’s mouth so he could remember for the next long months he would be away.

Needless to say, when Ryeowook left the room his hair was a mess and cheeks were flushed, and a sad smile lay on his face, as he passed the three headed dog.
