Archiving

I decided a while back that being the 2.0 inclined individual in the family, it was up to me to archive and put online our family history. er. or something.

A few weeks ago I started spending time at my parents house in taunton scanning old photos and documents for a family website I will someday finish.

Here are a few of my favorite photos I've scanned so far:

I am related to one or more of these guys but I have no way of knowing who; hope it isn't the guy with big ears! This is a tintype I found in the back of an old bible under a section titled Family Portraits. The individual photos weren't labeled though so I don't know who is who.

Another tintype from the family portrait section of the bible. Even though this guy looks dead, I like this photo because it shows the bottom of another photo on the top. I always thought tintypes were individually printed but this makes me wonder if they gang-printed then cut the photos out. This explains why tintypes are never perfect parallelograms.

This is my dad in a play pin... With a goat. Yea, it's East Taunton. If you have ever been to my parents house, that barn in the background is the one off the side of the house that is now just a basement and roof in the side of the hill. I have some better photos of the barn and house that I will post alongside present-day shots.

My dad in first or second grade. He is the cool looking guy in the top left. I scanned a bunch of class photos from Caswell school which is the school that was on Middleboro ave and burned down when I was a kid.

UPDATE:
That's totally a lamb, not a goat. duh. what kind of crazy person would put a goat in a crib? But kids love lambs! It was looking at this photo that made me change my mind:

My dad and his older brother. Also, check out the caption written on the photo: "Dog + Bob in play pin". Apparently i'm not the only one confused about the animal type in the play pin.
