AU Background
Feliciano Vargas is the younger of the two Vargas brothers. Their father, Giovanni, was a graphic designer for magazines; their mother, Elena, was a diplomat from Rome with the American government. Both were killed when Lovino and Feliciano were, respectively, 14 and 11, when their charter plane crashed on their anniversary. Lovino and Feliciano's grandfather and uncle raised them until Lovino was 18, when he took custody of Feliciano and they moved into the house they live in now.
Feliciano is an outgoing, intelligent boy; however, due to his as-yet-undiagnosed ADHD, he was held back in sixth grade, making him the eldest boy in his year and a grade lower than his best friend, Ludwig Beilschmidt. The two remained friends, though Ludwig was occasionally cold or distant; Feliciano was consistently warm and accommodating to his friend's emotional hang ups. In high school, when Ludwig got onto the Varsity team as one of the school's defensive ends, Feliciano joined the cheer squad. Cheer, along with dancing and acting, are about the only things that can focus his ADHD for extended periods of time.
Feliciano is an avid cheer team member, though he left the team shortly before the Homecoming game to avoid upsetting other members more, as the team blamed Feliciano for Ludwig's distractions on the field. He plans to join the team again after Ludwig graduates. For now, he is still on the dance squad and in the drama club.
At the Homecoming dance, both Feliciano and Ludwig buckled under their mutual attractive--and some spiked punch--and hooked up under the bleachers. Feliciano guaranteed that, despite some of their classmates already knowing, the relationship would remain private and secret. This promise fell through when a botched celebration for the football team making it to State was crashed by the arrival of Ludwig's father, Hans, a 'specialty man' with high aspirations for Ludwig and little love for the Vargas brothers. Ludwig went under house arrest, and when Hans found out they were in a relationship, he had a few 'associates' go to the Vargas' house to rough up Feliciano--they got Lovino instead. Since the party, Feliciano has been splitting his time between the hospital, school, and trying to see Ludwig. This also backfired when, one afternoon, Hans came home early to find Ludwig and Feliciano alone in the basement together. Feliciano doubled back to the house with concern for Ludwig, but eventually left to go and check on Lovino.
Lovino's discharge, a few days later, was great for Feliciano. This is when he enters the DR.
