He knew what was up the moment she suggested going home. She was after him, of course. And he wasn't having any of it. He wasn't going to concede. His arms crossed over his chest and he chose to remain standing, for sitting would be displaying his weakness.

"It's cold and flu season. And you don't exactly... prepare yourself for it." She tried to remember if he had the ingredients to make a chicken soup, or even the canned version if they were that desperate.
"And, from what I saw today, you have the signs of a cold. So, how long have you had one?"
"I'm absolutely fine." He countered, keeping his tone calm. Of course he wasn't and he probably wasn't even standing as straight as he should have been. He really didn't want to be standing at all, but with Ryou around he had to.
There would be nothing good around his apartment for sickness or remedy. He was too much of an idiot to keep things like that around.
It took almost all of her will power to keep from sighing aloud.
"Little children were coughing and sniffling around you." She thought it would have been obvious to take precautions, especially being the big celebrity that he was.
"Look, why don't you stay here and get warm and I'll go down to the store to get some things to help you with your cold? You look like you need to lay down for a little while, at least."
What was this? Charity? Charity from a friend?? Usually after learning all of his many lessons he'd probably be okay with this, if not a little hesitant. But he's sick. And that's worse somehow.
"It's unnecessary. But I understand if you'd like to leave to attend to something else." Yes. Get her to go away and then no one at all would be able to see his terrible weakness or try to get him to take care of it.
"It's necessary to take care of this now before it escalates to something worse." That time, she did sigh.
"I care about you, and I want to help." Would his pride even allow a little bit help? It isn't weakness to ask for help when you need it. She dug around in her purse for a pill bottle of regular over the counter headache medicine.
"Its not much, but they'll help bring your fever down." She pulled out two capsules and set them on the table. "While you do that, I'll go down to the store." She also had half a mind to take his keys in case he somehow decided in his delirium to lock her out of the apartment.
His hip shifted slightly as he turned just a little to look at that bottle of pills. Surely she didn't think he was about to go anywhere near it. His eyes raised back to hers afterwards.
"You don't have to go to the trouble, Ryou. Sick or not I can take care of myself." He needed to at least be afforded that, even if he totally didn't deserve it after all the times he's pulled this.
"Then take care of yourself by... taking care of yourself." And learn to listen when your sick, she added mentally. "A little rest and a little bit of help isn't going kill you." She turned on her heel to go into the kitchen to get him a glass of water.
"And it's really no trouble at all. You know I like cooking for my friends." Jounouchi-kun and Honda-kun certainly liked it when she cooked for everyone. "This one is just a special occasion."
"I never said it was going to kill me," He said stubbornly, following her as if it would make a difference. "I said it was unnecessary." Because it was. All of this was. There was no need for any of it at all. He was perfectly fine.
He continued to think so even as he felt a wave of dizziness and reached out to the table to steady himself.
"And just because it's unnecessary means that you won't do it? Why should only that stop you?" Luckily for him, her back was turned so she didn't see him using the table to balance himself.
"Colds are serious, Atem. I'm still trying to comprehend why you're so adamant about not taking time for yourself to get better."
Taking him home one afternoon to his apartment, she knew enough to turn the heat up slightly and lead him to the couch in the living room.
"So, how long has this going on? The weather is getting colder, you know." She almost sounded motherly in her tone.
