It's a bright beautiful day in the pokemon world! It had been a few days since you and Atem had parted, or have you not had the pleasure yet of meeting one of the world's most brightest pokemon minds? He's gained every single badge in every region and beat the Elites. A solitary character, though, sometimes he disappears completely out of view. A ( Read more... )

Atem really did have the worst timing. Kaiba had accepted some time ago that the shorter man he was currently stalking travelling with would disappear every so often. He had grown somewhat used to it at this point, using his time alone to train, develop new strategies, and take care of whatever minor personal business he had. Of course Atem had to fly back in on a very large pokemon just when that personal business involved possibly catching something new.

"Atem!" Kaiba snapped, almost as if his rival slash...whatever he was's name was a curse. The small tusked pokemon he had been battling quickly panicked at the sight of Aerodactyl and disappeared into the bushes.

His eyebrows rose as he watched the pokemon, a slight apologetic look taking hold of him. Though he didn't look particularly vexed, which is exactly the emotion Kaiba seemed to be exerting. He looked more... sorry and amused.

"Sorry." And he would at least apologize for it. "Do you want me to leave?"

The brunet shot the shorter man a dry look as he withdrew his Garchomp.

"It's a little late," he remarked. That pokemon was long gone by now. "But perfect timing as always, considering it's you. I assume you wish to move on?"

His hands slipped into his pockets as he looked around. Sometimes it surprised him how used to Kaiba his pokemon had gotten that they could locate him. He'd probably never tell the brunet that his directions in times like this were "locate Seto", but they worked just as well.

"You can continue training. There has to be more pokemon around here. I can wait somewhere." He knew how important training was, especially to Kaiba of all people.

"That wasn't training," Kaiba replied dryly. "It was catching. I've never seen a pokemon that looked like that before, and I doubt the Rockets have either. It might have been useful."

Usefulness, though, was never something he would trust the other to pick up on. Atem was still too hung up on making friends with every single pokemon he came in contact with. Kaiba figured he would be lucky if he could catch the thing properly while Atem was there watching. It would be more likely that the fool would walk over and start talking to it like an idiot.

So instead the brunet glanced back at the other. "It doesn't matter now. Let's just go."

"What did it look like?" Tusks? He was trying to think about what kind of pokemon it could have been. The area alone gave clues. He shuffled around in his pocket before producing a pokedex.

"Give me a second." He felt like he should at least try to make up for it. Kaiba wasn't known for catching very many pokemon. If he could just find out what it was...

Kaiba's eyes narrowed, and he stepped forward. A hand came down to cover the Pokedex.

"I am fully capable of looking it up myself if necessary," he growled, staring Atem straight on. He wasn't going to put up with being treated like an idiot now. Not after the other man had cost him a catch.

"It doesn't matter if its gone. Let's just go."

Atem looked up at him, at once glad to see those angry eyes again for the first time in a week or so. He'd never say something like that, or even really show it so blatantly so instead he rolled his own eyes. The pokedex was closed and pocketed once more.

A sigh came from him. "Where are we headed?" For once he didn't have a destination in mind. ...or was that more common now as he trekked around looking for Rockets?

Kaiba backed off with a snort of derision.

"Asking me now?" he said mockingly. "Or is this just because you will pick up and leave again without warning?"

He shook his head and turned away. "I don't have any real place to go," he added quietly. "Just places to move away from."

"I never really pick up and leave without notice." At least he usually tried. Nothing back home wherever he vanished off to was really of that much importance that he had to disappear without word. More and more Kaiba seemed to be taking precedence over everything else- though beating up Rockets was higher on that list.

He almost wanted to comment on his list of places to stay away from but that was one city and one alone. And it still was too much to share his business with the other. It seemed they mutually agreed on that much aside from the yelling and bantering and making out that occurred every once in a great while. But to leave it with nothing said was not like him. "Then to the next city." It was as easy an answer as any.

NO ATEM, YOU CANNOT HAVE HIS OUTFIT shutupandduelme July 16 2011, 04:49:31 UTC
"Hn."

Kaiba's hands slid to his belt to re-secure his Pokeballs properly before he turned toward the path. It was smooth and wide, evidence of the many trainers who had walked these woods before them. It was likely they wouldn't have too much trouble...or might have too much. Kaiba wouldn't be too surprised if the Rockets would lay in wait on such a well traveled path as this. Unfortunately, it didn't seem like they had much of a choice.

"Then we really do need to get going," he urged. "It's a long way to the next town, and it gets cold here after dark."

HE CAN DO WHATEVER HE WANTS note_atem July 16 2011, 04:55:02 UTC
Atem started moving almost a little too immediately after hearing that. His sweater sleeves were pushed down as well as his hand went to fidget at his belt. He was mentally going over which pokemon he had on him. Not that he didn't already know, but he was recounting how many had fire-type moves on them.

Cold did not suit him well. He couldn't handle it more often than not. He was more susceptible to getting colds than anyone else he knew (the list wasn't long but not the point), and it just wore him down. "I could always fly us if you'd rather."

BUT NOT THAT shutupandduelme July 16 2011, 04:58:02 UTC
Blue eyes were visible peering over his shoulder, though Kaiba's head didn't turn completely. There was a faint smirk tracing his lips too.

"Worried?" he asked, amusement tinging his voice. He'd take whatever advantage over Atem he could get, even if it was something as silly as worrying over the temperature.

WHATEVER. HE. WANTS. note_atem July 16 2011, 05:00:31 UTC
His hands went down to his sides as his stride became more comfortable and more of that saunter that he was known for. "What's there to be worried about?" He asked, tone completely disinterested.

It was just slight cold. He'd be fine. He even brought his sweater. So he'd be extra fine.

Atem was trying far too hard. It just drew a bigger smirk.

"Clearly something bad enough for you to consider flying," he remarked snidely. "And with me, no less. I would have thought it was just an excuse otherwise."

Kaiba, by contrast, wasn't doing anything at all in deference to the weather. Sure, he still had his long coat, but it didn't really have sleeves to speak of, and his shirt wasn't particularly thick. Still, he never did seem to be effected by rain or snow.

JUST WERK ON UR DUEL DISKS AND SHHH note_atem July 16 2011, 05:18:14 UTC
"Perhaps I just don't feel like wasting time." He responded with a light unamused look back at the other. Once he was done with that he looked ahead of them. There was no telling how long this path was. Forests and the like were all usually long, winding, and ridiculous.

He heaved a deep breath in and then out. "Is that all you've been doing while I was out?" All of this just loosely termed. "Did you come across any more Rockets?"
