Your adventures with Atem have led you to the Sinnoh region; route 214 to be exact. It's nighttime now, the star dotted with brightly burning stars and the moon so full it's glowing intensely. Surely it's giving off enough light to guide the way through your path. That's what you both agreed on, that there would be no stopping just this moment. After all, Veilstone City is only a couple of miles away.
The path is relatively empty. All the usual trainers seem to have gone home for the night. It leaves you two alone, walking in amicable silence. For just a moment he stops, tense, looking around. Then he points out forwards. You give him a look before your eyes try to adjust to what he's pointing at. A nest of sleeping Ryhorns. You both silently agree it would be best not to disturb them.
As is your luck, the moment you go forward again, one of you steps on a few broken tree branches, the snap waking the pokemon up. They're pissed; angry enough to charge without warning. There's no time to pull any pokeballs as you're both swept up in their stampede. It's at least a half an hour before they clear. Atem is nowhere in sight. Your steps are quick as you go search around in the thick grass for him.
Finally you spot him, bruised up and unconscious it seems just a little further away. Before you move towards him, something catches your eye. A multicolored bubble, a big one, just floating down through the sky. Chimes can be softly heard in the wind before the bubble pops, revealing something that has your eyes widening immediately.
"Mew?" The small legendary pokemon floats down to Atem, her tail brushing up against the side of his face. His eyes blink open before he sits up with a groan, the Mew moving closer, nuzzling her nose against his cheek. Then he smiles like this is the most normal encounter in his life.
"What are you doing out here?"
Oh that's it.
