This Venonat caught a young Atem trying to navigate his bike through the dark Route 14 trail at night. He was trying to use his pokedex as a guide for light but kept become uncoordinated amongst the other trainers and tall grass. It was happy to offer assistance to his intended path in exchange for some food. After all was said and done the two battled and Atem kept the bug on his team.

As nice and as level headed as this spider pokemon might be, their meeting at first was rough. Atem wandered into her territory and managed to get the very tips of his hair wound up in her web. Of course pulling away destroyed the web completely, leaving Spinarak to become very upset and angry. After a battle and some apologies, she seems to have forgiven the trainer.

This Silcoon was awaiting its evolution, stuck high in a tree in the Petalburg Woods. Unfortunately for it, it wasn't stuck tight enough to the branch it had perched on. It came raining down from the sky, landing right into Atem's hair. The trainer didn't much appreciate this and challenged it to a battle to make up for his damaged pride and hair. Once over, and the pokemon seemed thoroughly apologetic over the incident, he kept her on the team.

Caught as a Nincada; found in Eterna Forest

Move Set: Fury Swipes, Shadow Sneak, X-Scissor, Shadow Ball
Nincada literally bumped right into Atem as he was traveling through Eterna Forest. It had just emerged from its rest underground and had not yet gotten its bearings. Quick and eager to fight his first pokemon of the forest, Atem challenged it to battle and won. When it evolved he kept hold of the strange and nearly creepy Shedinja. After traveling for a little while after the evolution and seeing that it was clearly unhappy, he released the Ninjask back to the forest.
