He was actually at the Beta site trying to enjoy a little down time. There was a lake about five miles from the compound that was filled with fish. One of the scientists had found it and they had decided for now they were only catch and release.
The small cooler he had was sitting near his chair. Teal'c was supposed to join him, but so far he hadn't shown up.
"... Let go ..."
Okay, what's Shakarri doing on the radio... Jack snatched up his radio tossing the pole down. "Shakarri?"
The radio went dead. He knew he was out of range for the compound, which meant she was within three miles of where he was. The host shouldn't even be off world, and she sounded like she was struggling.
We got all the snakes that had infiltrated the base though. She should have been safe. Crap. Where the hell's Teal'c? He was trying to remember if there were any buildings within the area. He hadn't spent much time on the Beta Site's planet and now regretted it. He needed to get within range to contact the compound to see what was going on.
