Heatwave and hangover do not go well together...

*Charlie groaned as he came awake with the biggest headache.  Ugh, what did he drink last night? And why couldn't they for once have a party that was uneventful, meaning no drama?  And why was his broken finger throbbing like hell this morning ( Read more... )

"It is terribly warm, isn't it? I just went down for a swim and I think I'm dried up and burning already."

She dried her hair with her towel again, and smiled at him.

"I'm Charlotte. You're British too. Where are you from? I can't quite place your accent."

*Chuckles*

And our names are similar. Charlie, Charlotte. I'm from Manchester, born raised. Which part of England are you from?

*He's always happy to meet more Brits in this place. The more the merrier*

"I was raised in Worchestershire. Bromsgrove. My years at Oxford influenced my accent, though."

She smiles at him, taking a seat on the step beside him.

"You're dating the Australian girl? Claire? And her baby, is it yours? Sorry if I'm nosy."

She isn't really, though. She can't help if she's curious.

Nah, you're not nosy.

Yeah, I'm dating Claire, well rather engaged to Claire...if only we could find a priest.

*laughs*

No, it's not mine, even though I love it as if it were. Aaron...he was such a beautiful baby and as sweet as his mum...

Oh, that's wonderful! It would be fantastic to have a wedding on the island. We need to find a priest for that, though, I guess. Or a judge. Is anyone a judge?

Her eyes are bright and excited. It's wonderful to hear of something good and happy once in a while. And Claire seems really nice. She takes his hands and squeezes them.

Surely there has to be some way to make it work for you. For things to work out for SOMEONE.

We did have a priest...but he died and hasn't returned yet. But there's always hope that he does...

But I think if he does return, Juliet and James should be the first to marry. If they go first, maybe it'll make Claire and I less nervous.

Charlotte smiles warmly at him.

I just think it's wonderful that there's so much love here, you know? That human beings can take such adversity and find something beautiful in it. And there's nothing like being loved, is there?

She smiled and looked down.

I had love too, before I died.

I think love is the only thing that's making this place bearable.

*His heart goes out to Charlotte. He could relate somewhat, about finding love and then dying before it can actually be realized*

I'm sorry about Daniel. He was a nice bloke, but I'm sure that he'll show up sooner or later. Look at Hurley. He was gone for a while too...but he came back. I'm positive that Daniel will come back too and you'll never be apart again. And while we wait, you'll have the rest of us to keep you company.

*Smiles warmly.*

Charlotte smiles softly. She has hope that he will return, some day, even though she misses him so much. She looks up at Charlie and smiles, squeezing his hand again.

Everyone is wonderful here. I never really got to know you guys before, and it's great to get the chance now. You...you weren't there when I arrived on the island, were you?

*Charlie shakes his head. It was still strange to think of the time after his death.*

Um, no. I had gone down to unjam the signal that allowed Jack to contact the freighter and drowned when some wanker with an eye patch blew out the porthole of the underground station with a grenade. You guys came right after....

Oh, of course!

Charlotte smiled and squeezed his hand.

I died on the island too. After we started jumping in time. I forget what Daniel called it...temporal displacement, maybe? All I remember is my nose started bleeding and I got really dizzy and confused...And then I just...well...wasn't. And then I was again. It was very strange.

I heard about the island skipping through time thing...it seems like I've missed a lot. This is one strange place...beautiful, but strange.

It was the same for me. One minute, I'm drowning and everything goes dark and the next thing I know, I'm waking up outside the barracks, confused.
