Verity Lambert, the first producer and one of the major architects of Doctor Who died today at the age of 71.
When she was working on Doctor Who in the early 60s, Verity Lambert was both the youngest producer at the BBC, and the first and only female producer employed by the Corporation.
After moving on from Who, she produced series such as Adam Adamant Lives! and The Naked Civil Servant, and headed her own production company, Cinema Verity.
Her death is a loss not only to fans of Doctor Who, but to anyone who appreciates quality, innovative television.
