Migraines, writing, and a game

May 30, 2013 17:39

This is the worst migraine I've had in a year, at least. I realized it would be helpful if I could track these more accurately, and- hey, there are now decent apps for it. So I got a highly rated one and marked off symptoms and tried to think of better terms to use, and that made me feel a little less helpless. The really annoying thing is that ( Read more... )

Whoa, there are apps for everything! XD

I experience the opposite with writing sometimes, when I can do fiction, but non-fiction eludes me. I'm going through a bit of that right now, when sentences get harder to form, but only in non-fiction comments and stuff; fiction is still fine. I've also had it the other way around, but not as frequently. It's very weird. I've noticed it's related to my T injection cycle, but I don't really know why it actually happens. /o\ Does it affect things like story planning/outlining as well for you? Sometimes when I find fiction hard, I can still do more objective planning of the plot, so that I have some kind of framework of what's going to happen for when I do the actual writing, and it makes that later process easier.

but take your time with the RP! The little Smudge and Sas fluff balls of nothing are cuddling together somewhere, so they're good. :)

and omg that game. XD I saw the trailer. "100% of you will die eventually." perfection.
I looked it up and saw that it *is* Ellen McLain voicing GLaDOS, which makes it so much more awesome.
But I realise that GLaDOS is basically the only character I know in there, because I don't play that many games. BUT GLADOS. :D

There really do seem to be. :D This one will email me with graphs and such, if I so desire. I love that stuff, so I'm pleased. It's really helpful to have a diary like this, but when I was writing in a journal daily with that stuff, it was too depressing. Pressing a few buttons and being done with it is much better.

Ah! Interesting. I wonder why that happens. I know my hormones are...fairly messed up at the moment, so maybe that does have something to do with it. And actually, I hadn't thought about story planning or outlining until last night (Dan brought that up, too). I always figured that I'd be no good with that, either, but then I come up with these massive plot-things in my head...and I just wouldn't write them down, because I'd figure it'd turn out to be junk. I should give that a try. I do know that things like photo and video editing are way easier. So maybe it's just a tap into analytical things and away from creative things? Although that doesn't sound quite right. It might be more looking at big picture stuff rather than character arcs/development/etc. I don't know.

That is a lovely image. :)

And yes! Ellen McLain has been very busy lately (she's also going to be in a web series called Wish It, Inc, where she plays the Fairy Godmother). The other characters are all from tv shows, movies, and cartoons, except for Claptrap- and I don't know him. XD They're all from completely different types of humor. But the dynamic of the whole group is really great. And GLaDOS is just there to insult everyone. It's wonderful. :D It also looks like a personality core is the 'top prize' of the game. >___> I'm trying to get it right now.

Yeah, I think it could be a big-picture thing, or to do with systematic/analytical thinking rather than the more empathetic/emotional kind that's required for getting into characters' heads. And even if they turn out to be junk, it's still getting ideas out there, and maybe bits of them could later be used for different things. :D

"And GLaDOS is just there to insult everyone."

it's so beautiful. :') Has there been any mention of cake?

That sounds right to me. And yeah, that's true. :) It's a good perspective.

Hee. No cake so far, although they might be saving up for later. I will tell you if it shows up! There has, however, been mentions of a party (that they're having without you, once you lose, of course), and then there's stuff like this.

Brock: [after losing all his money] Wow. I...uh, I really didn't expect that.
GLaDOS: I did. But I didn't say anything because I wanted it to be a surprise. [confetti falls from the ceiling] Surprise.
Brock: [looks up at the confetti, annoyed]
