moving to Seattle?

Finally, it's summer. And by summer, I mean fall. The sun is out, it's warm, shorts and a tshirt are required gear. It was a long, cold, foggy winter in San Francisco this year. And by winter, I mean summer. It was getting a little old, this winter/summer thing. I love my city but there are times when I think of moving just to escape the incessant ( Read more... )

Seattle is interesting. My parents and brother live up there, my sister just moved (a year ago) to SF from there. There are many good points, most of which you've already laid out in this post. I love going in the summer, the weather is perfect, everyone's happy, all is good. BUT...by winter it's just not the same city, in my experience at least. People aren't as cheery or helpful, there's less going on, it's cold and icky out. The plus side is that makes for AWESOME coffee shop weather; you just can't beat a rainy Seattle day inside a warm coffee shop people watching and just enjoying life.

I have to say, I think I prefer SF. I would rather pay a bit more in rent and have more access to culture and more relaxed people. I have found Seattle is full of very stressed out people...maybe it's the coffee? The libertarians? I don't know.

But if you two end up there, I have plenty of friends who are quite welcoming and good to know...just let me know and I'll put you in contact.

On another note, I don't think I've seen you since that one time I went out with all of you to Morroccan food AGES ago. Maybe we four (You, Corrine, my Jonathan and I) should hang out at some point.

:)
