I haven't written in a few days, I know. I've been feeling really kind of self-deprecating, really. I hadn't wanted to go into a whole little "I'm stupid and insolent and here's why" thing. NO ONE WANTS TO READ THAT.
The Office was awesome last night. Just fantastic. This has been a stellar season; Last night's episode, the Karen episode, and the Dunder Mifflin Infinity episodes were all among the best in the show's history. I followed it up with several episodes of Arrested Development season 1 (I have all 3 seasons now!). Just...fantasticness all around. Though I think I have officially decided that I like Arrested more than The Office.
Taking nothing away from how much I love The Office: It's a show that makes me laugh out loud, cringe in embarassment and pain, and feel real emotion all in a half hour span. I love the characters, and the show is more in-depth in how it displays characters that I have ever seen. All the characters are real and have substance to them; the relationships between everybody are really thought about.
But man...Arrested Development is the smartest show I've ever watched. There is just not a single line of wasted dialogue. The show sets things up, then pays off on them episodes--sometimes SEASONS--later. The performances are brilliant from top-to-bottom. Arrested perfected what everyone gives the Office so much credit for: storytelling through facial expressions. EVERYONE in Arrested is so expressive and able to sell any joke with a smirk or a grimace or an earnet smile.
I really could watch either show all bloody day. I still wish Arrested Development was on all the time; I honestly feel bad that I never watched it when it was on the air. Fox didn't market that poor show for balls. Sigh. It'd be nice if the Hurwitz's would have allowed it to be picked up by someone else (like Showtime).
I had planned to go more in depth here, but rasslin' is on. I'll do it later. I've been meaning to divulge my thoughts on the way the 2008 Presidential campaign is shaping up. WAIT FOR IT!
