So I found out this afternoon--after a throat culture, bloodwork, an X-Ray, and a CAT scan--what's wrong with my throat.
I have an enlarged lymph node. My right one. In my neck.
(don't tell anyone this, but today, it was the left side of my throat hurting...but the swelling is still on the right)
Anyway, my right lymph node is enlarged, as per the CAT scan. I was told by my doctor that it is good that there is nothing else (no growths), but there's only one thing they can do to find out what is wrong with ol' Lymphy.
They have to take it out and look at it.
Since it probably won't come out of my neck via osmosis...
Sigh. I have an appointment with a surgeon on August 10th to "talk over how aggressive I want to be in this". As in, do I want it out now, or do I want to wait and see what happens.
I really have no idea. I'm actually NOT worried so much about the surgery or whatever. I'm more concerned with how much my insurance will/won't cover in all this. I mean, obviously I'm not in love with the idea of having my neck cut open and things taken out...but...I dunno.
I don't know what's going on. What there is to "look at" on the lymph node when they take it out. That's foreboding.
More later...
