I've noticed I only ever seem to update on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Also, I update 3 times a week. I wasn't GOING to LJ today, but it's Tuesday, so apparently I must.

I'm actually kind of sad today. Brett Favre retired today. No Packers fan, I, and I distinctly recall my last NFL thoughts about Brett Favre being vengeful playoff-inspired hatred, but this is a big downer. Brett Favre is one of those guys who the stereotypes were all true about: it was a blast watching him play the game. As a dedicated NFL fan (not just a 'Hawks fan...I follow the whole league), it's kind of disheartening to know he won't be around anymore. It was nice to see him go out on an up note, though, proving he's still one of the best ever to play the game.

That brings up a point....ESPN and all of its programs (PTI, Around The Horn) have been playing the "where does favre rank" game. I have an opinion on that myself. I think Brett Favre retires as the second best quarterback of all-time. He has two NFC championships and one Superbowl. He won an ungodly THREE STRAIGHT NFL MVP awards. He has the all-time record for wins, yards, completions, attempts, TDs. He has a longevity record that will never ever be broken (253 consecutive starts). He went through as much as any player in the NFL had ever had to in his career (an admitted painkiller addiction, losing his home to Katrina, losing his father, going though his wife's breast cancer). The knock on Favre is that he only won that one title. But he did win it. And the NFL is a LOT more competetive than it was back in the 60's, 70's, and 80's when Unitas, Bradshaw, Starr, and Montana were winning multiple titles. I think Favre had a harder go at it. And if he had won NO titles, I'd understand. But he did win. So I put him at #2 all time. Ahead of Montana, Marino, Unitas, and Marino.

I recently said my INCREDIBLY PREMATURE 2008 Superbowl pick was Green Bay vs. Jacksonville. I have to rectify that now.

St. Louis vs. Jacksonville! Josh Brown wins league MVP.

I'm just sayin'.
