[She had never sat through a wedding quite like that one. Short and sweet. She liked that. She did find it odd that neither Kaoru nor Kenshin really touched eachother at all during the ceremony. Wasn't there normally a kiss of some kind? Or at least holding hands

{Kaoru looked quite happy to see Doris.}

I'm so glad you could come~! And thank you! Again.

{Even though she was sincere, her thoughts were obviously elsewhere.}

[She didn't think that Kaoru could have looked happier--at least until she walked up to her. There was a nagging voice telling her that Kaoru must not have really known half the people in the room.]

[She grinned.] I was happy to. I'm honored that you invited me. [Her brow creased a little at Kaoru's gratitude.] And it's not a problem, really. If you need anything, anything at all, let me now, okay?

But... [She glanced at the door.] D is still waiting out there... and we really should be going. [She looked back to Kaoru and without ceremony reached out and pulled the other woman into a friendly hug.] You two stay safe, okay?

The same goes for you! I'm always happy to help out when I'm needed.

{Kaoru nodded as Doris said she had to leave.} That's alright, I understand! This was such short notice any--

{Kaoru turned rigid when Doris pulled her into a hug. It was unexpected, and Kaoru didn't know why and had no warning. Not really knowing what to do she just kind of stood there, looking rather flustered.}

Y-You stay safe too!

[Considering how stiff Kaoru went instantly she realized she did something wrong--crossed some culteral line or something and let her go quickly, now a little flustered herself.]

Sorry... sorry... That's... kind of a normal good bye thing in my world... guess it's not in yours huh?

{Kaoru didn't want her to feel bad, though}

Don't worry about it! I must do things that seem strange to you, too!

Heh... [She scratched the back of her head a little.] Not really...

You know, one thing I noticed, most weddings I've been to end with the groom kissing the bride--is it normal for that part not to be included?

Really...?

{At Doris' question, Kaoru blushed, and looked slightly incredulous.}

Of course it is! That would be completely inappropriate if we did that in public. Who would do that in front of others?

[hunterborn]

[She laughed a little.] Sorry, I was just curious.

And as far as whether I would or not--if it was part of the ceremony I would. Otherwise, no... [A little sadness crept into her face as a very real ping of realization hit her: she would never have anything like what the two people in front of her had. She would go back to the frontier after she left the City. She would live out her life a barren spinster, alone and friendless, her brother her only human contact. It was a sobering thought.] And one that doesn't belong in a friends wedding!!!

[She smiled again.] I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be offensive.

{It really made no sense to her...then again, there were a lot of strange things here...}

No need to apologize! I guess we just come from very different places, is all.

[hunterborn]

Alright. [She smiled.]

Congratulations again, and take care.

[She nodded to both of them this time, noting that Kenshin was starting to look more like the person she'd been introduced to--my he apparently embarassed easily.]

Bye. [She turned and headed out the door. She really hoped things turned out alright for them. They were too nice of people for trouble to be brought to them.]

[He had made the mistake of trying to take a sip of sake that time and ungracefully slopped it down his front and partially up his nose at Lang-dono's question about kissing being a part of a wedding ceremony, joining his wife in looking scandalized.]

[His eyes went huge when Lang-dono hugged his wife and was rather glad he had not been drinking any sake at the time or he would probably have spurted it through his nose. His earlier thoughts of touching Kaoru's hair being inappropriate seemed rather laughable at that outward display of affection.]
