It's a Christian religious holiday. But most people celebrates it with the tree, the presents and Santa.

Ah ah! Don't mislead the poor boy. The date was first used for pagan holidays and rituals.~

Was it? He asked about Christmas, anyways, not about the date.

The Dies Natalis Solis Invicti was first celebrated around December twenty fifth.

It's the Romans that really first started celebrating Christ's birth near the twenty fifth, but that's more around three hundred and seventy-eight AD, dear. Even then the religious aspect was more towards January sixth. Really it isn't until about the Twelfth Century that we start celebrating Christ's birth in association to December twenty fifth.

Huh. Does it matter? It's celebrated the 25th now. Unless there's people of before the twelfth century hanging around, it's hardly confusing.

Secondly, why are you giving me this information to me? [blink] The guy who replied above said the same. No offense, but this is pointless. I'm not Christian, I was raised in Japan and I live in another world that believes in Tentei not Jesus. All I care about is get a plastic tree and put presents under it.

It's in his entry now, isn't it? Also the context that you're speaking in might elude the "go on" factor.

My deepest and most sincere apologies if that is the cast.

[ totally sarcastic. ]

I think he understood perfectly well. He's more interested in the tree, anyways.

Are you going to give me the background of the tree next or maybe some other useless facts about pagan European beliefs I don't care to know about? If you want to, save it please.

[ she's just facepalming. ]

I'm flattered that you think so highly of yourself to think that I would go on without your approval.

[ she's not going to bother to reply anymore. Long day, you know, slain a plant-god monster before it wrecked chaos in the City this morning, got covered in smelly green goo ruining a good pair of jeans in the process, got to bond with future-imperial-captain, got sighed at by Kirin. ]

There's a tree involved?

Yeah. In Japan, sometimes we light our buildings and decorate Christmas trees. It's fun, we don't have it as a national holiday, but we celebrate it in a commercial way. We also eat Christmas Cake, which is a round sponge cakes with whipped cream and fruit toppings.

It sounds like it's interesting. The cake sounds good, too.

It's really good. I don't think bakeries in the City make them, but I'll bake a few. If you want one to share with your friends, I don't mind making an extra.

You don't have to, but... thank you for the offer. It would be nice.

I can give you some money for the supplies.

The supplies aren't expensive, but if you want, you could give me your favorite fruits to apply as topping.

That works, then. Is there any place you want me to bring them?
