barge family.

Molly's first weekend on the Barge happened to be the weekend Crane released his fear gas. Cissie helped Molly out, and bonded with her giant dog, Mouse. (Technically, it's Harry's dog, but bah, technicalities.) They started spending time together and just clicked. They've talked and realized they have more in common than just being cheerful blond girls. Both girls have made horrible mistakes in the past and fought to overcome them, and both still carry a great deal of guilt over their actions. In various ports and floods, they have bonded over shared trauma, been cousins, and spent Halloween weekend thinking they were Elphaba and Glinda from the musical Wicked. They even spent a flood stuck together sharing a telepathic link.

Molly has filled the Cassie-shaped hole in Cissie's life and become the big sister Cissie never had. When Coyolxauhqui called Aztec gods to the Barge and Molly was killed trying to rescue Cissie, Cissie snapped, reacting similarly to the way she did when Marcy was killed. Cissie... really doesn't approve of Molly's "friends-with-benefits" deal with Randal, but she doesn't really have room to talk.

MOLLY CARPENTER | BFF/BIG SISTER-THING

Sylar is Tim's inmate. When they first met, he introduced himself as Gabriel Gray and managed to hide his identity as Tim's inmate from Cissie for quite some time. He was initially using her as a way to find out more about Tim, and their relationship was largely based on his desire to be better than Tim. Sylar has in turns infuriated, frustrated and charmed Cissie; she never quite knows how he'll react to anything she says, and she finds him sometimes completely childish. Despite being warned about him, she built a friendship with him. He convinced her that he needs her to believe in him and she does; she truly believes he has the capacity to be a good person, based on how he acts when they are alone. It's when he interacts with the rest of the world that she wonders what she's gotten herself into.

She has grown to care deeply for him, and is even willing to admit she's in love with him. They flirted and danced around the issue for months, but eventually they began dating officially. Things were good... for about a month. Then things got strained and Sylar started pushing her away, until he broke up with her--and slept with Stephanie. Think: Ross and Rachel. "We were on a break." That pretty sums up their respective opinions on the matter. Eventually Sylar realized he'd been an idiot, pushing her away to protect himself from his feelings for her, and apologized. It took some time, but after a lot of painful conversations, they're giving it another shot. If nothing else, Cissie knows he cares about her. Her biggest fear is that he'll take everything he knows about her and use it to hurt her again. This could end horribly, or it might actually help Sylar graduate one day.

SYLAR/GABRIEL GRAY | BOYFRIEND. BELIEVE IT OR NOT.

Oh, Tim. Tim is one of Cissie's oldest friends. They met in Young Justice, when they were young and idealistic, and she totally had a crush on him. He was the team leader, and she will still look to him for decisions in tough moments, even years later. When Cissie quit heroing, Tim was the only member of YJ not to judge her and give her a hard time for her decision (which was part of why she kissed him). She remained on the team and in contact with her friends until the team disbanded and they were hit with one tragedy after another. Since then, Tim--and the rest of YJ--drifted out of contact, and Cissie has felt horribly left behind and abandoned. It may not be fair, but it's how she feels.

When she found out Tim was on the Barge too, she saw it as a chance to reconnect and become close with one of her best friends again. Tim is family, whether he likes it or not. She trusts him more than most anyone else on the Barge, and will always back him up.

TIM DRAKE WAYNE/RED ROBIN | ...IT'S TIM

Kirk is Cissie's Superboy stand-in, if Kon were older and a starship captain. They had a friendly sibling-like relationship for a while, but then Kirk vanished for several months and returned with amnesia. Cissie and her abandonment issues did not take this too well, but then she felt bad and started trying to form a friendship with him all over again. When she found out he had his memories back and hadn't told her, she punched him in the arm. And then apologized. She named her kitten Tiberius after Kirk, partially so she can call it Mr. Tibs and tease him vicariously. ...This is where Cissie makes up for never having siblings. He is now one of the few people she has trusted with her superhero past and one of even fewer to know exactly why she quit.

JAMES T. KIRK | PESKY OLDER BROTHER

Una, more than anyone, knew what Cissie was going through Wardening Beatty. She offered endless advice and camaraderie, and Cissie respects her endlessly. She's touched and honored that Una trusts her enough to ask her to be O'Brien's back-up warden. Una is the big sister/older cousin/aunt-type-person Cissie never had back home.

UNA PERRSON | A GOD-SEND

Isaac is Cissie's fifth inmate. He's also Sylar's friend (...and murder victim. Funny how that works.), and she's his fourth warden. They're both pretty tired of people disappearing on them. Cissie's amazed at having an inmate who doesn't hate her for simply existing, and who actually cares about her well-being. One way or another, she's going to get him out of his room and away from those paintings, though. Getting him a job was a good start. She cares a lot about him and really wants to help him graduate.

ISAAC MENDEZ | INMATE 5: THE NICE ONE

Martha is one of the friendliest people on the Barge. Cissie thinks she's wonderful, and appreciates every offer of tea and her late movie nights. She also appreciates the chance to use and further her medic training in the infirmary under Martha's supervision. There's also something bonding about being held captive by a goddess for safe-keeping and witnessing your loved ones beheaded in front of you.

MARTHA JONES | BIG SISTER/AUNT TYPE FRIEND

Glinda is sweet and kind and somewhat like a big sister or cousin. Cissie finds her adorable and entertaining. Glinda could probably convince Cissie to let her put glitter in her hair just by the power of her enthusiasm. How do you say no to Glinda the Good? She was incredibly sad when Glinda left the Barge and is ecstatic to have her back.

GLINDA THE GOOD | ...SHE'S GLINDA

Kon was a close friend once upon a time, and Cissie still thinks of him as the person who saved her, because he stopped her from making the biggest mistake of her life. She used to think of him as a brother-figure, but then they lost touch, he died and came back. Reconnecting on the Barge is... an awkward process.

KON-EL/SUPERBOY | LIKE A LONG-LOST BROTHER. SORT OF.

friends & loved ones.

It's been several months since the last Girls' Night Cissie had with Hayley, and she's not always sure what to make of her, but she is fond of her and considers her a friend.

HAYLEY STARK

Sarah had the unfortunate luck to arrive on the Barge only days before Coyo's takeover. "Hello, welcome to the Barge, have some human sacrifice." Cissie likes Sarah a lot; she's friendly and nice and level-headed during a crisis.

SARAH HARDING

Sveta is another of the few geniuinely friendly people on the Barge, and Cissie enjoys her a great deal. They haven't interacted as much as Cissie might like, but she enjoys seeing her cheerful posts and working with her when she's on-call in the infirmary.

SVETLANA NAZAROVA (SVETA)

Cissie respects Kay immensely, and finds his habit of using nicknames incredibly endearing. He's one of the people she knows can be counted on in a crisis.

AGENT K

Spike lives next door. Cissie was wary of him for a long time, as--vampire! But he's proven to be a handy Warden to have around, and staging an epic prison break that resulted in his death during the Aztec takeover didn't hurt her opinion of him either. ...And thanks to Dick Grayson, he's seen Wendy the Werewolf Stalker and that makes things interesting.

SPIKE | THE VAMPIRE NEXT DOOR

If Cissie knew what having a grandfather was like, she would probably think of Iroh that way. He's always kind and thoughtful and a great listener, and has shown concern for her well-being. She respects him a great deal and enjoys talking with him.

IROH

Cissie's first impression of Loki was when he came to the infirmary looking for information about his warden. He pretended to be someone else, which might normally make her suspicious, but his concern for his warden was what really struck her. Later, he helped her pull herself together when she was in shock and slightly catatonic after reacting Very Badly to Molly's death. He grew her hair back for her... in pink, but only temporarily.

LOKI

After a sparring match, Cissie and Stephanie bonded over being superheroes without powers, and over working with Tim. She doesn't know who Steph is, and she hasn't shared her whole story yet, but maybe one day. It was nice to have another girl around who gets what it's like to be a hero. But then Sylar slept with her to hurt Cissie, which worked spectacularly well. Cissie knows Steph didn't know they were dating, but it doesn't help that she admitted she still wants to be with Tim or that Sylar is so concerned about her well-being. Cissie has serious jealousy issues and she'd like to think she's better than she used to be (Anita, anyone?), but sometimes it takes a lot of effort to keep those jealous tendencies at bay. Stephanie is a sore spot at the moment, but she's working on it.

STEPHANIE BROWN/BATGIRL

Dick is Tim's older brother, and as one of the few people Tim trusts, has Cissie's trust too. They haven't interacted much, but there's time.

DICK GRAYSON/NIGHTWING

Five's half-naked goddess inmate. Cissie enjoyed talking with her, even if she was often startled by her. And then Coyo called her brothers to the Barge and locked Cissie and Martha away with her to keep them safe from the mass human sacrifices. That was nice of her. ...The ensuing massacre of Cissie's friends and her mental break were less fun.

COYOLXAUHQUI

Howie is another person Cissie has a great deal of respect for. She appreciates all the work he does trying to keep the Barge in order.

SGT. NEIL HOWIE

Cissie knew enough of Slade's reputation to be wary of him, but they've had a few positive interactions so far, the most recent and most impacting being when he tried to warn her about Coyo's plans in an attempt to keep her safe. It's not his fault she couldn't listen!

SLADE WILSON/DEATHSTROKE

the jury is still out.

Cissie hasn't spoken with him much, but he seems to be one of the more serious and reliable wardens. More than that, Martha loves him and Molly likes him, and their opinions go a long way with Cissie. He also died trying to save the Barge, and that's not something she takes lightly.

SEVERUS SNAPE

Like the other villains from her world, Cissie started out trying to avoid Eddie. But he's a warden, which is confusing. And then he walked into her room and got himself locked in during a bizarre flood, and after all his awkward flailing, she's a little fond of him, even though most of the time she finds him confusing and kind of weird.

EDWARD NYGMA/THE RIDDLER | CREEPY PERVERT?

Possibly the only real friend Beatty had, Cissie was very wary of O'Brien. He drives her crazy with his doublespeak and totalitarian ways, and she did believe him when he was faking his redemption. They were stuck together for a weekend, which made her fond of him--until she found out he was lying the whole time. Now she's determined to help Una graduate him.

O'BRIEN

Cissie wasn't sure what to make of Prefect, but she watched him closely while Beatty was on board. She worried about him, and now she's weirdly fond/protective of him, and incredibly proud of him for graduating.

PREFECT

Cissie doesn't know much about Rhade, but he was endearingly clueless about animals and they had a nice conversation, so... she's interested in seeing what happens there.

GAHERIS RHADE

people Cissie avoids.

It doesn't always work, because Crane is a GIANT TROLL, but Cissie tries to stay as far away from him as she can. She knows better. But he's hard to avoid completely.

JONATHAN CRANE/SCARECROW

This Wally is younger and from a time before Bart. Cissie isn't Wally's biggest fan in her own time, thanks to the way he treated Bart in the past, though he's apparently improved; she'd be willing to give that Wally a chance, but a Wally that doesn't know Bart and has no concept of secret identities is not one Cissie wants much to do with.

...Mostly, he makes her miss Bart.

WALLY WEST/THE FLASH

Molly's first inmate. Cissie hates her on principle, given what she puts Molly through and also... she's a little insane.

AMANDA YOUNG

the ones who left.

Cissie's first inmate. He regularly drove her insane and basically every conversation with him ended in a headache. But she cared about him and was determined to make some progress with him, if only by listening to him. When he wouldn't listen to her because of her age, she sat outside his room reading Dr. Suess books out loud, and she started leaving books in his room, hoping he would read them before he burned them. Of course, then he tried to set the library on fire and faked Barge!amnesia for a few months, and as soon as she discovered this, he... left. She feels like this gave him the last word and she hates it, and gets a headache all over again when she thinks about it.

CAPTAIN JOHN BEATTY | PYROMANIAC BOOK-HATING INMATE #1

Cissie's second inmate. When Cissie was assigned to Bela, she was suffering from serious abandonment issues and apathy; Cissie definitely related to that. She made it her goal to be as present in Bela's life as possible, just to prove she was there and not going anywhere, in hopes of eventually earning her trust. She also thought Bruce and Bela were good for each other and wanted to help them out. In the end, however, it was Bela who left and not Cissie.

BELA TALBOT | INMATE #2

Cissie's third inmate. Of approximately two days. They had one meeting, then the Admiral shut the power off and the Barge was dead in the water for a week and Cissie never saw Tybalt again, as he vanished about the same time as the power.

TYBALT CAPULET | INMATE #3

Cissie spoke with Rose more before they were assigned than after; they basically had one meeting and Cissie realized that Rose had managed to guide herself to her graduation. She really just needed to talk things out with a Warden who could sign the right papers.

MISS ROSE | INMATE #4

Cissie looked up to Murphy. She saw her as a mother-figure, in much the way she looked up to Marcy Money, her late therapist (whose death only sent Cissie spiraling into brief insanity that resulted in her giving up the only way of life she had ever known, but no pressure, Murphy). Murphy was the first person on the Barge that Cissie told about her superhero past, and was one of the few people she trusted completely. They fought zombies together, were tortured by ghosts together and oh yeah--were mother and daughter in the 1930s. The only time Cissie's ever had anything resembling a normal life with a normal mother was during that Carnival flood, and even though she knows it wasn't real, she's grateful for it. She only hopes she can be as strong, confident and independent as Murphy, and that she can make her proud. (Even though this would horrify Murphy if she knew.)

...Of course, then Murphy left the Barge to return to Chicago. She told Cissie before she left, and while Cissie was supportive through their conversation, she didn't take her departure well at all, especially as it was the heels of Bruce, Bela and Tybalt's departures and at the same time as Gabriel's. Cissie's abandonment issues came out to play, big time. Marcy's death caused a kind of psychotic break. About the only reason Murphy's departure didn't was because Cissie could hope Murphy was alive somewhere.

KARRIN MURPHY | PSUEDO-MOM

In the beginning, Gabriel amused Cissie. She didn't really know what to make of him, or if she really believed he was an archangel--but she had seen stranger things. She believed him pretty quickly. She also knew he was just as vulnerable as anyone else, and was one of the few people who could bully him into talking when he didn't want to. She made him tell her about the time he turned into Lucifer, and made him open up about Murphy's brief departure, when no one else could. She also left him speechless on a few occasions, and is a little proud of that.

But then he left, at the same time as Murphy, the same week as Tybalt. She pitched a fit the first time he left without telling anyone, so this time he told her first. It turns out that being forewarned isn't much of a consolation after all.

However, this Grey's Anatomy quote basically sums up Gabriel's role in her psuedo-family:

IZZIE: Why should anybody care what kind of time Alex is having!?
MEREDITH: Because he's Dirty Uncle Sal!
IZZIE: [looks confused]
MEREDITH: Dirty Uncle Sal. The one who embarrasses everyone at holidays and family reunions and who can't be left alone with the teenage girls, but you have to invite him anyway.

GABRIEL | DIRTYCRAZY UNCLE SAL

Once upon a time, the people of the Barge were stranded in groups of five or six on a world full of zombies. Cissie's group included Murphy, Gabriel, Sam and Harry Dresden. They mowed down zombies in a minivan, and became Team Minivan. There's something about fighting zombies for days and being in life-or-death situations like that that makes you bond, one way or another. After, Cissie looked to Sam as a kind of father-figure.

...Except for maybe that one time everyone but her turned into a dog.

She was sad when he left, but it was a happy kind of sad, because he left after spending more than two years on the Barge, once his inmate Prefect graduated. It was different than people just choosing to leave.

SAM TYLER | DAD-LIKE FIGURE

Bruce was the second person on the Barge to learn Cissie's ex-superhero secret. ...The fact that it came out when she was horribly drunk, thanks to a flood, was not her favorite thing. But after, she and Bruce bonded and grew close. He looked out for her like an older brother, even taking care of her when she went on a self-pitying drinking spree. She took it on herself to bully him when he got reclusive and full of self-hatred (going so far as to nearly beat down his door when necessary), and to tease him like a little sister when he needed it. Which was pretty often. She also thought he sometimes needed a good kick in the pants, and she was perfectly okay with being the one to give it to him. When she found out he had feelings for Bela Talbot, her inmate, she may or may not have tried to play matchmaker and smooth things out for them.

And then, like so many, he left the Barge. He left her a note, but didn't come say goodbye; she may be sliiiightly bitter over this. His departure left a kind of open wound that Gabe and Murphy's soon-to-follow exits rubbed a whole ton of salt in. She handled Bruce's well, in comparison.

BRUCE BANNER | BIG BROTHER, PRONE TO FLAILING

Five was an uncle-figure that Cissie had a tendency to yell at. She didn't mean to! He just sometimes needed the kick back to reality. She initially bonded with him over keeping his beloved library safe from her book-burning inmate and found him adorably eccentric. During port in Germany before Christmas, she went for a walk in a snowstorm with him, where they found and rescued a puppy, who Five named Waldheld--Cissie called him Waldo and gave him striped doggy sweaters. It was necessary. She was very sorry to see him leave and misses him a lot.

THE DOCTOR (FIVE) | CELERY-WEARING UNCLE

Cissie respected Leia immensely. She looked out for Cissie and Cissie appreciated it and tried to do the same for her. She was always surprised when Leia stuck up for her, because she was not used to that. She trusted Leia with her secret identity. If Cissie had any frame of reference, she would have known to think of Leia as a big sister. Leia said she would be back, but shortly after her room reverted to Barge-neutral and Cissie carries a lot of resentment about that broken promise.

LEIA ORGANA | BIG SISTER

Harry was a member of Team Minivan, but was separated from the group and killed by the zombies. Cissie felt horrible about that. After, he became kind of an uncle figure. He was also her best friend's teacher, as Molly is his apprentice. Cissie found this kind of amusing, considering this was the man beating on an archangel with a squeaky toy while they ran over zombies in a minivan. She's hurt by the way he abandoned Molly so soon after Murphy left, but after Molly's canon update to post-Changes, she's just worried about him and hopes he's alive back home.

HARRY DRESDEN | WIZARD

Cissie found Abigail to be a breath of fresh air. She was amusing and entertaining and clearly a tough lady, which Cissie respected. She liked her a lot.

ABIGAIL MARSTON

Cissie bonded with Ned over life in a boarding school and thought he was one of the kindest and nicest people she'd ever met. She misses him terribly.

NED | PIE-MAKING UNCLE

Tony, like Kirk, holds a Superboy-shape place in her heart. He was a good-natured flirt she was very fond of, and if she'd known about his heroing, she would have been very intrigued.

TONY STARK/IRON MAN

Cissie met Ruby shortly before she graduated, and became friends with her. Ruby called her French Fry, making her one of the very few people who have ever given Cissie a nickname. She was one of the regulars are their old Girl Nights.

RUBY

Buffy was a kick-ass blonde girl, who was also friendly and fun. Cissie enjoyed spending time with her.

BUFFY SUMMERS

Cissie was suspicious of Harvey because of what she knew of Two-Face, but he was never anything but friendly with her, and concerned when she experienced her first Barge death. He was the first graduated inmate she met and the one who convinced her that the system can work.

HARVEY DENT

Cissie may not be from Gotham, but she knows way too much about the Joker from her own world--and remembers the time he Jokerized just about everybody. She was pretty damn relieved when he disappeared.

THE JOKER

Cissie was very fond of Wichita. She was hurt and worried when she disappeared for several months, but was just glad she came back... Until she left again. The zombie port gave Cissie a new appreciation for where Wichita comes from. She would still like to teach her how to fall without breaking a bone, though.

WICHITA

He wore Sam's face and pretended to be him. Cissie hated him. ...Oh yeah, and there was that whole Masterworld thing back in April. That sucked too. But mostly he wore Sam's face and wasn't Sam.

THE MASTER

...He stuck a fork in her pocket and tried to pretend there was an animal in there. He was a pest.

NATHAN YOUNG

He freaked Cissie out, disgusted her and even if she didn't know what he did to Steph, she wanted nothing to do with him.

ROMAN SIONIS/BLACK MASK

The Doctor was a more than welcome addition to the infirmary. Cissie finds him amusing, and she respected him.

DOCTOR (EMH) | LORD OF THE INFIRM
