(no subject)
I had an incredibly long entry yesterday, then the laptop died before I updated. Doh
My family's houses are OK for the most post. Minor wind damage, tree damage, etc. Marsha's car was stolen by either thugs or police. Kevin's mom's camp on LAke Catherine is gone, down to the pilings. Otherwise, we're doing OK.
We went to the temp agency two days ago and I wasn't impressed and we've pretty much decided to volunteer at the shelters here instead of working. BTW, I typed 79 words per minute with 100% accuracy, crazy eh?
I like it here alot - it's clean, not too humid, and just nice all around. My mom's friends from Indiana are coming here to visit tomorrow and I'm so excited. : ) I love them so much and it'll be great to see more familiar faces.
Last night we went to Jillians and got unlimited play cards. I played Carolyn and MArsha in air hockey and kicked ass, of course! I am the air hockey champion, yesiree. I do have a bruise on my thumb today though, hahaha.
Today we went to Walmart and got some gym clothes. Kris is going to try to get the YMCA to give us free passes for the month. I hope it works out.
We applied for food stamps and I feel so weird about it, but I know it'll help in the long run. Carolyn and Ms Gayle have spent so much money on us and supplies and food for New Orleans.
