Claire woke up to find the room empty. At first she was worried that Sam had gone somewhere, but then she peaked out the window and saw him sitting on the stairs. It was hot in their room and she was sweating, even in her tank top and shorts.

She grabbed their room key, locked the door, and walked out to join Sam, stopping on the step above his. "Hey. Mind if I join you?"

Sam looked up at Claire and smiled. "Nope," he shook his head and patted the step next to him.

"Couldn't sleep. Needed some air. You alright?" he asked her.

Claire nodded, sitting down next to Sam with a smile. "I'm better than alright. I'm with you."

Sam put his arm around her shoulders and kissed the top of her head. "I started to wake you up but you were sleeping so peacefully."

"You just wanted to get drunk out here without me," Claire teased. She didn't and probably couldn't get drunk. It was a pointless thing to do, anyway.

"I got too hot, it woke me up."

Sam chuckled and nodded. "You caught me. Sorry," he joked. He nodded in response to her second comment. "It is hot in there."

"Yeah," Claire nodded. She figured it was partly because they were in Mexico. It was supposed to be warmer and nicer, and so far it had been. But too warm wasn't a good thing, either.

"Are you okay?"

"Yup," Sam assured her. "I've had a good spring break. You?"

"I've had a good spring break too," Claire nodded. "I'm calling my first spring break a success, thanks to you." Because if he hadn't showed up to rescue her from Nathan, it would have been an entirely different story.

"I'll miss you when you go back to Stanford."

Sam looked down at his feet and nodded. He grabbed his beer, took a sip and put it back.

"I'm going to miss you too. I've gotten spoiled getting to see you every day."

"It's nice," Claire agreed quietly, looking out at the water.

Sam stood up, nabbing his beer and holding his hand out to her. "Come on, let's go walk."

"Okay," Claire took his hand, letting Sam guide her out closer to the ocean. "I hope all this is over before your graduation."

"Me too," Sam nodded. "I'd like for you to be there. Mom will come of course and Dean, Brooke. It'll be fun."

"We'll have to clean your apartment before then," Claire teased. Sam did a pretty good job of the day to day stuff, but he wasn't big on dusting or anything like that. "If it's safe, I'll sit with them. And if it's not, maybe I'll be sneaky."

"Alright," Sam nodded with a grin. He bumped her hip, pushing her just into the water but holding onto her hand so she didn't fall.
