Very often in fics and roleplay, scent is overlooked. So tell us, in your muse’s world, what are some scents that they like, encounter or even have? How does your muse smell? How does their home smell? What scents do they find comforting or disturbing? Is there a scent that can trigger a reaction in your muse?
Sam is usually pretty aware of smells. He’s a hunter and he was raised to be a warrior. Scent is a big part of that. It tells a hunter many things. Demons smell like burned matches while other things have a more unpleasant smell. Bad smells rarely bother Sam anymore because his entire life he’s actively participating in grave digging and corpse/bones burning. That’s not to say that he doesn’t notice them, they just don’t bother him.
Sam usually smells like soap. Dial to be exact. It’s the antibacterial aspect of it. He wears Degree deodorant but no cologne. As for his home, he more or less counts that as the Impala and it smells like leather and gas and Dean.
Scents that he finds comforting are probably not what anyone else would expect. He likes the smell of rock salt. And even more than that, the smell of gun powder burnt rocksalt. He likes the smell of smoke and the road because all three of these combined usually meant his dad was home. When he got older it meant Dean was back. He likes the way a motel room smells, clean and almost nondescript because that means that they’re back from a job and they’re safe.
I mentioned before that bad smells don’t bother Sam. This doesn’t include blood. The smell of blood disturbs Sam because that generally means someone is hurt and too often in his life, that someone is a person he cares about.
Another smell that bothers Sam but comforts him at the same time is the smell of Happy (perfume) by Clinque. He swears to me that’s what Jess wore so it manages to both bother him and comfort him at the same time.
