[For one of the first times ever, Yako is really excited about the idea of studying and researching. She's extremely curious, too - not just about what she might find that can be related back to Sai, or even to Neuro, but just about demons and Hell in general. Neuro talks about it all so often, and she's genuinely interested in finding out more ( Read more... )

Yako?

[Willow ducks around a stack, appearing at the top of the curved stairs. A smile appears on her face - she quickly jogs down them toward her, sliding the stack of books in her hands to the table on the way.] Yako! You made it!

[She laughs half-nervously when she sees the stack of books because she's pretty sure she's never seen that many books put in front of her at once and oh, God, she's going to be reading all these things. If it weren't for the prospect of evolving and impressing Neuro hanging over her head, she would have given up already.]

Yeah. I said I was coming, didn't I? [She takes a moment to look around, slightly awed.] This is incredible... Are all of these books about magic and demons?

No, this is the high school's normal library, and only a few of us know about the occult, [she explains, friendly and jocular despite the fact that it's exposition.] Giles keeps his magic books in his office and the book cage. Well, the book cage has weapons too.

Was there something you wanted to start with, or do you want to just hang around for a while?

Ah... I don't really mind. I guess we could do both? We can hang around while we just look through some things... I'm not sure what I'm looking for exactly, so there's not much to start with. [Although she does want to see if there's anything close to Neuro, she still has to put together a description in her head... Mystery-eating bird? She seriously doubts that anything silly like that exists outside of her world.]

Sure! [says Willow brightly, turning to shuffle some books around. She pushes a large, heavy, leather-bound one toward an empty chair.] That's a compendium of fairy tales - the originals, not the Disney versions. A lot of demons were recorded that way when they first showed up, so it can be pretty useful.

We can sit and swap gross stories that we find and later on get snacks. Okay?

[Yako goes and takes a seat at the table, looking over the books.]

Sure, that sounds good! [She smiles sheepishly and starts to open a few, just to peek inside.] "Shape-shifting" is probably a really general ability, huh?

No, you'd be surprised, [Willow answers, sliding into a seat herself as she speaks.] A lot of demons can change their appearance in some way, but it's usually limited, like how vamps can go into grr face, or half-demons can look human until they're under stress.

True shapeshifting at will is more rare. Their preferred form might give you some clues on where to start; demons have their own preferences, and they can be pretty telling.

Well... I think the form Sai usually takes is a child. A young boy. [She flips through the pages, not really looking for that yet, just glancing through.] But he says that's only because he can't remember what his true form is, or what he is. I think he just made up the appearance he has now.
