Hello, Barry! It is fine that you could not think of any other name. It is a hard choice. I am Gai.

Some people have televisions. I have one for action movies!

Yes, it was. The woman who greeted me was named Gum, so names don't seem to mean much here.

Oh. I didn't see any in the shop windows, and I thought that was strange. I didn't see any computers, either. It's a bit rural here.

The one I chose was Youth, but I have found out my real name.

I do not think you will find any in the shops. They, and a lot of things that are like that, are often found when the Wilderness changes.

How did you do that?

The Wilderness is that place that changes every month. So it changes into places like [another one of those pauses] shopping centres?

Memories can be regained slowly, with a price, and there is little that you can do to determine when. They are random.

Exactly!

[His writing comes all at once in eagerness, which is far different than what he has written before. He writes slowly out of nervousness, not difficulty, however.]

What's the price? Does it take something from you?

The price for learning too much too quickly, or saying too much, is often death. That is something to remember.

There is no way to plan for the price. It changes. And I think that I have said a great deal.

...Youth is destined to terrify my newbies, eh? ;) notamelonfucker January 21 2011, 21:32:34 UTC
[...okay. That is incredibly terrifying.

Barry will not answer for a good ten minutes, as he will be taking that time to rest his head in his hands and wonder what he's gotten into.]

You can't choose how or when you get your memories, but if you learn too much, you die?

That isn't right.

...Apparently so. He is sorry! spandexisyouth January 21 2011, 22:40:41 UTC
No. It is not. But we are here, and we must adapt.

Poor Youth. I just play easily frightened people/normals XD notamelonfucker January 22 2011, 03:12:04 UTC
So how do you keep from learning too much and dying? If there is a way.

Heehee. spandexisyouth January 22 2011, 05:35:03 UTC
By learning slowly, by watching carefully, and by not talking too much.

But... you said the price for learning too much is death. And you also said that we are not in charge of how or when we regain our memories. So there's no way to avoid it just by being careful.

I am not being clear, again. I am sorry. Speaking in a subtle way is not very easy.

The price for memories is different than the price for learning too much.

Who am I? is a safe enough question as long as you do not try to dig too far and too fast, and let it come as it comes, randomly.

Who is responsible for here, why, and how are the dangerous ones.

I understand. It's still not fair, but it's better than having no control at all.

[He contemplates this, rather unhappily. Places where you are not able to confront your leader are not uncommon, but this is something else entirely.]

Thank you. For taking the time to tell me.

Life is not fair, but while we are alive we have a chance to right that which is wrong and become stronger!

You are welcome.

[Oh. Oh. He likes that. He likes that a lot.]

Right. Stronger. I think I will have to get a job first, though. What do you do?
