But... you said the price for learning too much is death. And you also said that we are not in charge of how or when we regain our memories. So there's no way to avoid it just by being careful.

I do not think you will find any in the shops. They, and a lot of things that are like that, are often found when the Wilderness changes.

The price for memories is different than the price for learning too much.
Who am I? is a safe enough question as long as you do not try to dig too far and too fast, and let it come as it comes, randomly.
