[ in ur TARDIS, looking for ur Rose ]

[ is in her room, curled up on her bed with a magazine and some sleepy kittens ]

[captaincy]

[ leans in the doorway and knocks gently on the frame. ]

[a_valiant_rose]

[ glances up ] --Jack! Hey. [ sets the magazine aside and sits up a bit, trying not to disturb the kittens ]

[captaincy]

[ meanders into the room and sits on the edge of your bed. ] Hey. You okay?

[a_valiant_rose]

...Yeah. I guess so.

[captaincy]

Good. I wanted to talk to you about some stuff. 'Cause making new friends in Camp makes me realize I need to keep my old ones, right?

[a_valiant_rose]

Right.

[captaincy]

And I miss talking to you.

It's hard, though, 'cause there are questions I don't ever want to answer, ever. I know it hurts you, but I just can't. It's like... [ staring at the ceiling, trying to think up a good comparison. ]

[a_valiant_rose]

[sighs, but doesn't interrupt just yet, just waits for you to finish your comparison]

[captaincy]

[ still staring at the ceiling. ] It's like... If the Doctor showed up in Camp. And he didn't remember... Gallifrey. What he'd done. He looked the same, he knew you and me and Donna and all of time but he didn't have that horrible burden on his heart, would you want to be the one to give it back to him?

They're those sort of secrets.

[a_valiant_rose]

. . . [...ow] But I don't understand, Jack. What could possibly be that bad for me to hear?

[captaincy]

Things ... that don't matter as much as that would matter, even. [ reaches up to tuck some stray hair behind your ear. ] I just wanted you to know that I'm not trying to leave you out, that there are so many other things I want to tell you that it seems stupid to get stuck on the one thing I can't.

[a_valiant_rose]

[sighs again] ...I'm just tired of everyone hiding some big secret from me all the time. I'm not stupid, Jack. I know when you and the Doctor, and Rabi or even Donna, aren't telling me things.

[captaincy]

I get that. But try and see it from our perspective, huh? Just because we have a few extra pieces of information, doesn't mean we aren't still your friends.

You know more about me than a surprising number of people, Rose. Not everything's a secret.

...Alright, I won't pry anymore. It's just... Dunno. It makes me worry.
