So the Doctor passed 15k at some point and Ganymede has meandered his way past 8k and Vincent's nearly at 5 and Rachel IS CLOSE TO 1K FINALLY (sob i thought it would never happen) so yeah comment milestones are happening! Fun stuff!

Okay so. The Doctor ... really wants to save Leto from doing the things that he knows he will inevitably do. The Doctor and Leto are pretty much the infinite force and the unmoveable object with regards to opinions, but all the same the Doctor is like ... painfully fond of Leto. Because he has all of this magnificent potential and he could do so much and he could be so fantastic and yet he is, to the Doctor, stopping himself from this decision he's made to hold onto fate and an eventual reality. But the Doctor loves Leto! More than he loves other people! Because he understands that to make beauty sometimes terrible things have to happen. But because he's so fond of Leto, he doesn't want him to become a terrible thing, the kind of thing he might have to prevent.

Re: the thread the other day ... the Doctor is really sad. Because he knows, in a way, why Leto was unhappy. He was sadder that Leto wouldn't speak frankly about it, because he thought Leto trusted him a bit more than that. And the regeneration thing for the Doctor, as you know, is not something he wants to do yet. It's not in his current personality to want to stop living! He views himself as being able to do so much more! And he wanted to help Leto as the person he is now, and he's afraid that the person he will become will abandon that. He doesn't think it's possible, because he is, in essence, always the same, but this Doctor has always believed in fighting the lost cause and thus.
