Funny how what had seemed like more than a year's accumulation of stuff when Door moved into and out of the cabins isn't taking very long to pack tonight, even with Chimney fluttering about making questionably helpful suggestions in Pigeon.

Then again, it's not that she doesn't have a boatload of books and clothing and random recipes for pie. It' ( Read more... )

Robin was passing by in the hallway, practicing his Dog, by singing "Homeward Bound" in hound dog.

Door smiles and leans out the open doorway. "That's very pretty." It is, once you get past the oddness of a song being barked and howled in dog-language with the voice of a frog.

"I'm..." It takes a moment of wondering, before the answer to her self-inventory is a small, pleasantly-surprised laugh. "I'm good, I think. I'm going home."

"For....I don't know." She does, though, she's pretty sure. "For good, maybe. I've been hiding out here from people who wanted to hurt me--" If you can call them that. "But I've got a reason to go back now."

"Oh." Robin sounded a little sad. He wished he'd gotten more opportunities to hang out with her. "Oh! That reminds me! I'll be right back."

He scampered off as fast as his little froggie legs could carry him (which is faster than one might think) and returned with a yellow t-shirt with a picture of a cabin, and the words "Mighty Minotaurs" on it in green.

"I asked my Uncle Kermit to make these shirts for all of us, but then the move to the cabins was canceled and so I never got a chance to hand them out."

Door unfolds it, then laughs delightedly. "It's wonderful, thank you. If anyone asks where I've been all year, I can tell them it's a secret hideaway in a labyrinth, guarded by fearsome beasts."

"And that's kind of the truth, depending on how you look at it." Robin beamed. "I wish I'd gotten to hang out with you more."

Door nods. "I liked living in the cabin. It's a shame we couldn't go back."

"And now you've got a keepsake for it." Robin bounced.

"I'll definitely take it with me!" Door rolls it up to put into one of her packs.
