Room 418, Monday Night

Door's lying on her bed reading. Not for classes, though she supposes there's that list of piecrust recipes she could be reviewing. She's just reading for fun. You know. That story about the witchy kids at boarding school.

No, the other one. The one there was no one in line for. Magic Month.

Feeling kind of bouncy after a phone call from a certain multi-legged alien (she wasn't going to question how he'd got her number, or how he was able to even call considering he was a bazillion light years away or whatever), Carmela wanders across the hall and knocks on the doorframe.

Door looks up and grins, marking her page with her finger. "Hi!"

"You busy?" Carmela asks curiously.

"Well, I am right in the middle of this great new book...that was published in 1982. It's not going anywhere."

"See, that's the thing," Carmela says. "How would you like to? Go somewhere, I mean."

"Right now? I've got class tomorrow..." Not that it would stop her in the slightest; she just feels the need to state it for the record. "Where?"

"Well we could wait until after your workshop." Carmela says. "Technically I'll be skipping two of mine, but. Uh. I really couldn't pass this up. Um, you ever hear of a little planet called Rirhath B?" Yeah, she knows Door hasn't.

Door raises an eyebrow. "Sure. Just round the corner from the chip shop on south Regent Street, right?"

"Well. If around the corner there's a Worldgating Facility that can get us there," Carmela admits. "Then yes."

Door shakes her head, reaching over to her night-table for a bookmark, then closing the book. "Not in my London."

"Well, we wouldn't even have to go to *any* London to get there. Just DC. And that'll take us right to the Crossings, which is this *huge* Worldgating Facility and my friend Sker'ret invited me there for a few days, he's kind of in charge of the place, and he said I could bring someone if I'd like, and I think it'd be fun."

The whole Worldgate idea leaves Door. somewhere between nervous and fascinated. All those doors out there that she's pretty sure can't possibly exist in her world or she'd know... So how can she pass up the chance to look at one up close?

She grins, folding her legs under her. "I'd like that."

"Awesome!" Carmela grins widely. "When's your workshop? Morning? Afternoon? I need to go talk to whoever's running the DC gate, see if they'll let me use it even though I'm not, you know, a wizard. If not," she shrugs, "I call my brother and he'll give us a lift."

"Morning," Door answers. "It's the stupid people one. I can't decide if it's funny or depressing."
