I should probably just let this old journal die a peaceful death, but I thought I'd write a short update.
I was offered my old job back--but at the company that gobbled up my old job. They'd said for months that they didn't have funding for technical writers, but some old friends pulled some strings and they were finally able to work something out. I start April 18. It's a huge relief, because my commute will be down to 10 miles each way instead of 60 miles each way, which is what it is now. Slightly better pay, slightly better benefits, built-in network of people who know and seem to like me... so it's a better job overall. I'm a little worried that my job will disappear again, but that will be a risk anywhere I go, since no one seems to understand what a technical writer does (I'm not sure I do, either. Heh.).
Not much else is happening... so this will probably be the last update I make for a few months. Whee.
