After handwavily spending the morning out with Max and Josie, they had returned back to his room for a while.
They had just been prepared to head back out again when Goose's computer beeped and a video connection link popped up.
It was Commander Walsh.
"Shane I ..." Commander Walsh stopped as he noticed the presence of two small children in Goose's room, "Shane what is this?"
"Grandpa!" Josie and Max exclaimed, rather surprised at seeing their Grandpa Walsh.
"Future or alternate children from different realities," was Goose's response. "This is Max," he placed an arm around him and "and this is Josie," the other arm went around her.
"How...?" Walsh started to say.
"Fandom," he responded in a way as if that explained everything and Walsh should have already known.
Walsh was dumfounded for several moments, he was trying to work out how it was possible for Shane to have reproduced children at any point in an alternate timeline when it wasn't physically possible for Supertroopers to reproduce, they had been designed that way.
He finally decided he didn't want to think about it.
"Who's the mother?" was the question that he settled with.
"Someone named Niko," Goose replied, after a glance with Josie, "she's apparently a Psychic,"
"I know there's a Niko at the Ranger Academy, she's an archeologist," Walsh frowned, "I'm aware of her Psychic abilities, but not that much about her,"
"That's mom!" Josie exclaimed, "she and dad met when they became Series 5 ..." she stopped, realizing that she shouldn't share that particular information.
Walsh frowned at the mention of 'Series 5', which was something that BETA's scientists were working on but he didn't say anything. "I see..."
After several moments of silence lapsed between them, Walsh asked a few more general questions before finishing the link.
Goose sighed when the link disconnected.
"Dad?" Max looked after at his father, "are you okay?"
"I'm fine," Goose said quietly, even giving a small smile to try and reassure him, "come on, let's go back out,"
