Muslim leader wants elements of sharia in Australia

Ugh, from sauce here. Apparently this guy wants to implement that non-penal parts of the sharia law system as a parallel law system, like we already have for the aboriginal (and TI) peoples. Which I'd agree with... if it weren't for the fact that the sharia law system is stupidly and massively biased towards the male population

so.... if there is a preference for the kid to go with the mother, but the father has the ultimate decision, why does it matter if the preferece is the kid goes with the mother? it'll get veto'd by the father.
what happens if the father is an aboslute fucker and the kids don't want to go with him? if staying with him will put them in danger?
why should one person have a law that another person in the same situation can't have?
what happens if this does go through, and a guy becomes a muslim just so this law comes into force? does it get repealed if he stops being a muslim? where do they draw the line at "muslim"? someone who is practicing, or someone who pays lip service for a month?
and that brings up the next question, why the hell should religion allow you to pick and choose which laws apply to you and how they apply? if i claim that i'm part of the Church of Xtfrleua and it is part of our laws to kill a person every wednesday, does that mean i can live under its laws and get away with murder (so long as it is done on a wednesday)?

nah, every time i apply logic to a situation, i apologise to reality. habit i got into at work because whenever logic is applied, the plant procedes to change reality on you. and that tends to piss people off.
