Character you're applying for: Danny Fenton
Series the character is from: Danny Phantom
Character's age: 14
Character's gender: Male
Character’s “Real Name”: It’ll stay Danny Fenton, but they’ll be trying to convince him that he never was Danny Phantom.

Please give us a detailed personal history of your character: Danny Fenton has always lived in the (somewhat) quiet town of Amity Park, two years behind his older sister, Jazz Fenton. Both Danny and Jazz grew up in an eccentric household where constant noise and explosions were the norm.

Danny’s parents are self-proclaimed professional ghost hunters, but most of the town used to think they were a bit loopy in the head, as they had no tangible proof of the existence of ghosts until they made the infamous Fenton Ghost Portal. They never tried to prove the existence of ghosts, instead assuming they always were there, and instead worked on inventions to catch, destroy, and detect them. Just about all his life, Danny has had their ghost hunting prototype inventions shoved under his nose, fresh from the basement laboratory. His father, an extremely hyper ghost hunter dedicated more, it seems, to his work than to his family, often neglected Danny’s needs, instead lecturing him on how advanced the Fenton Ghost Gabber was, or how revolutionary the Fenton Thermos was. Danny couldn’t have cared less, and actually would much rather prefer playing video games with his not-quite-as-weird-but-still-pretty-weird friends, Sam and Tucker.

When Danny was fourteen, his parents finished an epic project in the basement laboratory. They had created the final prototype of the Fenton Ghost Portal, a portal into the realm known as the Ghost Zone, an expansion of the original mini-Portal they had created in college with their old buddy Vlad Masters. Danny’s parents gathered the entire family in the basement for a ‘grand opening’, but it only flickered a few times before it went out. Disappointed and depressed, his parents they trudged back upstairs, their life’s work a failure.

Sam hadn’t been there to see it flop, and was enthusiastic about seeing it for the first time. When she stepped down into the basement, she saw that it had failed. She managed to persuade Danny to try and fix it, and after a bit of pushing, he agreed. He put on his HAZMAT suit, his hand trailing along the side of the portal as he stepped in. His finger accidentally slid against the “on” button, but it was still plugged in. The portal was activated…with Danny still inside. Danny’s human DNA strands combined with ectoplasm (ghostly material), making him a half-human, half-ghost hybrid. Danny crawled out of the portal, barely alive, with white hair, green eyes, and his HAZMAT suit colors inverted so that it was now mostly black. It took a few minutes for him to understand the situation, and just when he was about to relax, he realized the problem.

He was a ghost. And his parents were ghost hunters.

And just like that, Danny’s life got that much harder.

He now had to deal with all his parents’ inventions suddenly detecting a ghost in the room and had to adjust to his powers randomly executing himself, like his arm going intangible during meals at home. He tried lying, but he wasn’t very good at it. In fact, one of the first few things he screamed when approached by his sister was, “IT’S A LIE, I’M NOT A GHOST!” She hadn’t even been talking about ghosts.

Miraculously, no one ever found out, and as time passed, his powers progressed and grew. He defeated every ghost that came by and became a sort of protector for Amity Park from all the nasty spectral beings that come out daily from his parents’ portal. Along the way, he met Vlad Masters, billionaire of the year, one of the original creators of the Portal, and an old college friend of Danny’s father’s. He also turned out to be Vlad Plasmius, the very first human-ghost hybrid, with almost twenty years experience over Danny. Through some rather clever logic, Danny defeated him by swearing to reveal them as ghosts to his ghost-hunting mother, otherwise known as Vlad’s love interest.

But despite his efforts, he wasn’t really known. It wasn’t until Walker, trying to get payback on him from when he escaped his prison in the Ghost Zone, had blackmailed him in front of the whole town did he get a reputation.

Walker possessed several civilians, mostly students and faculty at Casper High, and framed Danny in front of a Town Meeting. The mayor, possessed by Walker himself, declared Danny Phantom Public Enemy Number One. Even though Danny managed to get Walker and his henchmen out of Amity Park, his new reputation preceded him, and became a legendary enemy of the town. Everyone continued to think that he was another one of the foes he fought every night, tiring himself out to ungodly hours, only to wake up a couple hours later to drag himself to school and be tortured nonstop.

Only when he defeated the Ghost King, Pariah Dark, and locked him in his tomb was he recognized as a hero. Pariah had been trying to take over Amity Park and essentially pull it into the Ghost Zone, but was stopped by none other than the heroic Danny Phantom. And his enemies, too, but who cares about them, really?

Even with his redeemed reputation, some people continued to chase after Danny Phantom. This included the Guys in White (GIW), a new ghost-hunting agency that found business in Amity Park and his own parents. One of his best friends, Valerie Gray (also a ghost hunter who was after Danny Phantom’s head, funded by Vlad) still hated Phantom’s guts and continued to hunt him. At the same time, she developed feelings for Danny Fenton.

A few months later, Danny had to take the CAT’s. In a stroke of pure luck, he managed to get his hands on the test answers, struggling with the decision whether or not to cheat. Oddly enough, that choice decided the fate of the world. A ghost by the name Clockwork, the Master of Time, knew of a future where Danny’s friends and family all died in a strange explosion because of this test. As a result, Danny came to Vlad in a binding truce, where both of their ghost sides (separated from their human sides) merged to create an evil being, whose psyche was primarily Danny’s. Ten years later, Amity Park (and probably most of the world, but this is speculation) is a wasteland, turned to complete rubble by this future Danny.

Clockwork was out to prevent this future. His solution was simple: get rid of Danny Fenton, and the problem is solved. Unfortunately, it wasn’t that easy, and soon enough, Danny and his friends had found a way to travel through time and set out to fight his future self. In the end, he won against this future version, worn out and almost completely defeated with all his family and friends killed in an explosion that the future Danny had set up while Danny had been distracted with fighting. Clockwork decided to spare them for the good deeds Danny had done, and a mutual relationship was developed. Clockwork was Danny’s first ghost ally.

Not long after, Danny found that he had a clone who had been posing as his cousin. This clone was a failed experiment, but the most successful out of three previous ones. She was an aid to Vlad in trying to make the perfect Danny clone. She called herself Dani, and also had an alter ego named Dani Phantom. Two years younger and female, she still wasn’t completely stable, and overusing her powers would cause her to slowly turn to goop.

Dani played the role of a double-agent, fighting ghosts alongside Danny but ultimately betraying him and bringing him to Vlad. Chaincuffed to a torture device, Danny watched Vlad’s and Dani’s father-daughter relationship go down the drain as the clone teamed up with him to defeat Vlad. When the older hybrid was defeated, Dani flew off to live on her own.

After a year full of ghosts, evil billionaires, ghost hunters, and more, anyone would deserve a summer to kick back. Danny was ready to spend the whole summer doing a cross-country trip with his friends for some major fun and relaxation. Unfortunately, his plans were ruined the same day school let out. Freakshow, a previous foe of theirs who had taken control over Danny’s will for his own use, was back and out of jail with his ghost assistant Lydia. He sabotaged a Dumpty Humpty concert that Danny was attending, forcing him to go and fight him.

Danny thought he could defeat Freakshow again, but Freakshow had the Reality Gauntlet, which could bend any aspect of reality. He had only one gem though, and needed all four to control all reality. That one gem was enough to blow Danny’s secret on television, though.

His cover blown, Danny, Tucker, and Sam started to chase after the remaining gems (with the Guys in White trailing behind them) while Freakshow kidnapped their families and set a ransom on top of the gem-race.

After overcoming a whole slew of challenges (including a field of overly happy teddy bears), Danny made it to Freakshow and defeated him, taking the Gauntlet back. But it was too late, his secret was out and within a few hours, it’d be out to the whole world. Even though his parents accepted him as a human-ghost hybrid, he still used the Gauntlet to erase everyone’s memories of the whole summer.

When it was only a few months into the new school year, Danny then found himself in a place called Landel’s.

(NOTE: This history was written before I knew that some episodes in season 2 were aired out of order. Nick did a pretty good job of hiding their bad continuity in this season...unlike season 3.)

Please give us a detailed description of your character's personality: Danny is your basic, average teen. He hates school, loves video games and relaxing, and was never meant to be a superhero. Lucky for him, though, he is one. He gets all the perks of being able to make mince meat out of anyone who beats him up, pulling pranks without getting caught, and the like. And he does take advantage of his powers-sometimes. Only sometimes does he prank the school bully and posess his body, only sometimes does he go into the girl’s locker room invisibly.

Danny used to be a pretty self-conscious kid, always wanting to be in with the popular kids. He also seemed pretty shallow in his taste of girls and people, immediately falling for the beauty queen of the school, Paulina Sanchez, even though she scorns Danny and treats him like a pawn for whatever she needs done.

He is more comfortable with himself now, and can stick up for himself sometimes. Although, he does know when to stick up for himself and when not to; he isn’t particularly fond of getting skinned.

And then there’s the responsible side to his powers that Danny handles on a daily basis. He fights every ghost that comes through the portal every day because he’s the only one in Amity Park who can. He fought when he was blackmailed and hated by the entire town, and when he was outnumbered a billion-to-one and near breaking point, and when he was about to fail many of his classes in school.

He cares a lot for his friends and family, and would do anything for them at all. He’d even die for them, and he nearly has on several occasions.

Please give us a detailed physical description of your character: Danny Fenton looks just the way he acts: like an average teenaged kid. He wears a white shirt with red trimming and red oval, plain blue jeans, and red converse sneakers almost every day. His hair, messy and unruly, is jet black. His eyes are a pale blue, and he has thick eyebrows.

Danny Phantom, however, looks completely different (although still recognizable, in a way). Danny Phantom has perfect white hair, although just as messy as it is when he is in human form. His eyes are a glowing neon green, and despite the inversion of his hair, his eyebrows are still black. He wears a black skintight jumpsuit accented with a white collar, gloves, belt, and boots. His belt has recently turned into a sort of utility belt with Fenton weaponry, and right on his chest there is his logo: a white emblem of a D and a P mixed together, designed by his friend Sam.

Danny's powers are restricted to:
-30 seconds of flight (at no faster than running pace)
-30 seconds of combined intangibility/invisibility
-3 ecto-blasts (which, if he decides to use in a 'stream' rather than in a blast, will not last longer than 5 seconds)
-being able to transform

Not like he knows that ICly.
