I've had a dream a little like this one before.

You're healed now?

You had a dream about a strange fountain, or that you'd been shot?

Appears so. One of the odder experiences in my life.

That I'd been shot. It seems like one of the preferred methods of arrival.

I'm afraid it only gets odder.

Sorry to hear that. First time for me, and I sure as hell hope it'll be the last.

That's...not very encouraging.

Hard to blame you. I can't say I recommend it.

I could try my hand at encouragement. At least whoever shot you didn't follow you here.

Which is why I try to stay away from guns as much as possible.

So far as I know, anyway. Still not sure where here is, but I guess not seeing anyone I recognize is a good thing in this instance.

Do you? In my experience, they can be unavoidable.

I've heard people throw around the phrase between worlds, but that's not very satisfying, is it?

Well, if you've gotta be around the fellows who've got 'em, you learn how to get out of the way before they decide to use 'em.

Not especially. But I suppose the philosophy of it doesn't matter, so much as just digging in and surviving.

Evasive maneuvers are a way of life.

Where philosophy vs. survival is concerned, I couldn't agree more.

Only if you're shit at diplomacy. Suppose that could be thought a form of evasive maneuvers, though.

Philosophy's for dreamers. I'm a realist.

Some might say diplomacy's for those unwilling to get their hands dirty.

Personally, I prefer my dreams light on the philosophy. I think I like your style.

Anyone who says that doesn't enjoy life enough. Dirty hands usually lead to broken necks. I like my neck the way it is.

I gotta admit, it's a pretty good style. Yours doesn't sound too bad either.

Now that might just be true.

Thanks. It serves its purpose.

It's worked pretty well for me so far. Recent events excluded.

And what purpose is that?

Keeping me alive, primarily. ...As you said, recent events excluded.

Although I've heard death here doesn't exactly leave the most lasting of impressions.

Most noble purpose there is, keeping alive. You have someone take exception to you lately too?

I...don't know about other people, but I'd figure death would make a pretty damn lasting impression on me. Near death sure as fuck has.
