"Aziraphale! Why don't you ever answer your phone? It's what it's there for, you know! And -- "

Crowley stopped dead. Aziraphale looked up with a look that managed to appear serene for somewhat less than point two of a second. After that, it just looked harassed. Angels are supposed to be patient creatures: Aziraphale was in the process of butchering that supposition. Fortunately, Crowley wasn't looking at him. He was looking at the small noisy siren of a thing sat in a cot in the middle of the room.

"I was trying to do someone a favour," Aziraphale said, meekly. "I can't get it to stop crying. I called you -- "

" -- and left about the last sentence of your message on my ansaphone -- "

" -- since, you know, you looked after Adam when he was a baby for a while. I was hoping you'd know what to do..."

"I looked after Adam for all of five minutes," Crowley hissed. Literally hissed, that is. Babies made him kind of nervous, even if they weren't the Antichrist. He glared at the baby and wondered if they had a mute button, like a television. "I can see why you didn't hear the phone going."

Aziraphale looked unhappy. "You don't know what to do about it?"

Crowley gave it consideration. Two seconds consideration. "You could drown it," he said.

"Crowley!"
