Aahhhh, a rainy day in Melbourne. And being Melbourne, that means it is really raining. But this is good, for the first time in aaaaages, I have nothing particular to do now. A planned day off, because life has been so busy of late. I realised we've been away 3 times in the last 6 weeks, which is really quite hedonistic, even if one of them was camping. On top of that, there was all the OU work I had to squeeze in, and for the last week an old friend from home has been staying. Since she has been on holiday and I have been at work, she has had rather more energy than me, so every day just as I'm leaving work there has been a phone call - hi helen, i'm in x bar, come and join me! And of course I would, and while this has been delightful, I am now totally wiped out.
Comedy festival is on at the moment as well, which I'm really getting in to. For a start, it's stuck a sparkler up the arse of Melbourne's CBD - the main town centre is usually dead after 5pm, but just for now it is alive with people and bars you never knew existed. And there is a real festival feel, that buzz of choosing which of a million shows and the excitement of whether this will be hilarious or lame. So far I've done pretty well - one guy playing to precisely 6 of us, in the world's dodgiest bar, and Tim Minchin, who was so funny I was in pain.
Currently trying to find a birthday present for Anthony's mum, but eurgh. Trying to 'leaf through' the Next website on dialup is really frustrating and annoying. Perhaps I'll just buy her a stuffed kangaroo like Heather's :)
