Winter break:
Home was pleasant; seeing ev-ju-kate all together was as wonderful as usual, and I had several fun wine with the family nights. (Turns out we're all lushes.)
Seattle was incredible. Most of you have heard at least the really short version: I wasn't expecting to be disappointed, but I was not prepared to be completely wowed. Still can't entirely explain; simply put, it felt right. (How couldn't it when you're sleeping on a houseboat?)
Ohio was chaotic and happy. Sounds like wedding time, right? As usual, I felt like part of the family. When I was pulled out of observing mode, that is.
Back at school:
Body: Em and I are on a health and exercise kick; she cooks, I train. It's been good.
Mind: I'm pretty damn nervous about the coming semester. I've got a lot riding on grades, senior thesis, applying to schools before I hit the trail, and graduating in general.
On hitting the trail:
Andy's backpack was finally completed just before break, and it's in his possession now. I'm pretty proud. It was even used as a carry on during two flights. It works! My backpack is in the works, to be completed spring break. Quilt material and sewing machine have been transfered to Virginia, also awaiting me for Spring Break Trip Planning Extravaganza.
On knitting:
I finished everything I planned to finish (please don't ask me about Brian's scarf... completely in denial), and all gifts were very well received. Pictures to come. (some on flickr already)
Currently working on socks for Miss Emily, and both of us are quite excited about them. She'll also be getting some wrist warmers (they'll be cooler than they sound) from the same yarn.
Sock and a half to finish by March for the mother's birthday.
Sweater for me that I've been patiently resisting...to start as soon as I feel caught up. On life, that is.
To sum: I'm remarkably happy. This year is going to be quite a huge one for me, and once the January nerves wear off (they will, right?), I expect to thoroughly enjoy myself.
Oh, and travel scrabble kicks ass.
