I’ve always known the world isn’t quite as normal as most people seem to believe, I knew that even before I met the Doctor; he just showed me exactly how bizarre the world (and the universe for that matter) really was. It’s crazy really, what people choose to believe considering all the things that have happened in the last year or so. I can’t really blame them though, it’s a lot to take in. I’m only just really starting to believe all the things I’ve seen, now I’m back at home and I’ve actually got time to think about everything that happened while I was travelling with him rather than always running and trying to save the world (not that I’m complaining, it was brilliant and I can’t wait to get back to it.) I’ve always considered myself to be pretty open minded though, so I do understand why a lot of people choose to believe what the media (and the government) tells them. I mean really who wants to believe that there are tons of other species up there much more clever than us and that quite a few of them seem to think killing people and attempting to take over the Earth is a fun thing to do? I mean the idea that we were all drugged is something that you want to cling to, because it’s easier isn’t it? Easier than having to worry about alien threats and all that.
But when you’ve seen the things that most of the world have now, the cybermen appearing in everyone’s homes and the battle that came afterwards, that killed hundreds of people, I mean how can people just ignore that? It makes no sense at all does it? All the cover-ups, drugs in the water and all that, well if you really think about it it doesn’t even make sense does it? The whole world were drugged were they? All at the same time, I mean come on now, you don’t exactly need to be the smartest person ever to see the flaws in that idea do you? Can you imagine how much planning that would take? But again that’s the thing; in situations like this people don’t think do they? Because they want to live in happy, blissful ignorance so they accept whatever will help them remain that way.
After what happened with the Master though I wonder what’s going to happen now, because he told the whole of the world that aliens did exist, he even televised first contact (of course as it turns out the aliens weren’t actually alien in this case they were human, but that’s not the point). I keep waiting for the news to tell everyone how Harold Saxon, the late prime minister of Great Britain, was actually some madman with a well hidden past of mental problems (which well is pretty true actually) and a lot of friends in the special effects industry with a sick sense of humour, but so far it’s been pretty much ignored. Of course people don’t even know the half of what the Master really did, because it never happened, but that’s good. In fact it’s brilliant, because people shouldn’t have to deal with that, it’s bad enough that my family and Lucy have to. I’d quite like to see how they’d cover that up though - the near destruction of the whole world, but I know it’s better this way.
