Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: Snow White traditionally has no powers; she is not a witch like some of her other Fable friends, and she is not half human and half animal like others. If anything, Snow is one of the more normal Fables, possessing no special ability beyond the type that all Fables possess, which is an intricate type of immortality. While Fables do not age, that is not to say that they cannot die. Snow gets shot in the head by Goldilocks, and it was only through strength of will, magic, medical science, and the fact that Snow White is such a popular Fable, that she did not die, though she was in a coma for weeks, and still needs to use a cane to help walk at times. Immortality seems to mean more to certain characters then to others; whatever the case, Snow is over 300 years old, but only looks in her mid to young twenties.
As for other abilities, Snow is excellent at management, having worked as deputy mayor for years. She also is skilled at hand to hand combat, and is especially good at fencing. She is also technically a princess; she's eloquent in speech and manner, and she knows when to take a leadership role. Her best ability is keeping those who would otherwise stray in line.
Conditional: If your character has no superhuman canon abilities, what dormant ability will you give them?
Because of Snow's claim as a Fable, she takes in different stories about her to become a legend. However, to her she is just living her life, and everything that she did before was not some fairytale story; a horrific tale, actually. Being a Fable can be a double edged sword, and that is why any ability that she is given would also be the same way. In this case, Snow will be developing the power to absorb other people's abilities and powers. This will start out slow and involuntarily on her part; reaching out to touch someone will only be because she's trying to comfort, not to leech away their power. At first she'll have the power for ten minutes or less, and then as she develops the power and learns how to control it, she can eventually learn how to touch someone without sucking away their power, and to keep a hold on the new ability for longer amounts of time. Not that she will want to, seeing as this power is the kind that she will find isolating once again, until she figures out how to use it to help herself and others.
Weapons: All Snow will have on her that could count as a weapon would be her cane.

Character Personality: Throughout Snow’s life, there have been obvious changes in her personality; being a Fable and living for over 300 years will do that to a girl. While she is not the sweet and charming girl that is shown in movies or read about in story books with pictures of her dressed in outrageous gowns anymore, her ability to be that is still there, though this facet of her personality has been tampered down over the years. Snow has been abandoned more times than anyone should; as a child, she was a kind and careful girl, one who always does things by the rules because she believes in the good in everyone. It’s unfortunate that this is proven to her to be false time and time again; her mother gives her to her aunt for safe keeping, only to have her aunt try and have her killed because she’s more beautiful, despite her aunt being a nice person in the first place. Her kind heart wins over the person sent to kill her, but by saving her, even he sends her off to have a worse fate; a house she found in the woods belongs to seven dwarf brothers, and these men force her into slavery, both physical and sexual. This all seems like enough to force even the strongest woman to her breaking point, but even then, Snow stays strong; when an old woman offers her an apple, Snow shows that she still has a kind heart, and places her trust in the good in human nature and accepts the apple. When the apple, poisoned by her aunt, puts her into a coma, the dwarves dump her body in the woods like a piece of trash to rot.
This is when Snow’s kind and gentle nature begins to dissolve, and she allows her heart to harden and begins to build a wall around it; even when Prince Charming wakes her and marries her, Snow only sees him as someone who can be used. Charming is the best swordsman in the land, and when he asks what she would like as a bridal gift the only thing she asks for is fencing lessons. It’s not very clear on if she really loved him, or saw him as a tool to be used, but no matter what it is, she is determined to exact her revenge against the dwarves who used her; even when it becomes clear that their deaths will bring the kingdom to war with the kingdom that lives beneath their feet, Snow does not care, and she kills them without a care. What ultimately makes Snow put a lock on her heart is Prince Charming’s betrayal; finding him in bed with her sister, Rose Red, proves to her that love is nothing but a liability, and also shows that Snow did love Charming, considering how badly she is hurt by his infidelity. Charming proves to be the straw that breaks the camel’s back, and Snow knows that from then on, the only person that is ever deserving of her trust is herself. Snow from that point on is always on the offensive, rather than waiting for someone else to get close and put her on the defensive, and potentially hurt her.
It’s at this point that Snow White is seen as someone perfect; a young woman who has gone through hardship and come out on top. This is how she is seen by most, if not all, of the other Fables, and it is how she wants to be shown, as someone who can accomplish anything. It’s unfortunate that to achieve these remarkable things, she has let herself become emotionally cold and very jaded when it comes to life. Snow views the world through narrowed eyes; seeing everything in black and white, pro and con, and while this makes for a great tactical manner and gives her a great sense of strategic movement (something that someone points out during the battle for the Homelands), her businesslike manner does have its drawbacks. Seeing people as pieces on a board rather than knowing them as person to person has her lacking in understanding people and their motives; this makes her seem out of touch at times. Snow has gotten better at this by the time she gives birth to her children, but on a deeper level she will never be a good empathetic person. Feelings are a weakness, and while she has let her heart begin to thaw, it still is not something she is good at dealing with.
Snow might enjoy rules and discipline, and in being in a place that puts her in command of things rather than in a place where she might be put in harms’ way, but she really does care about the well-being of her fellow Fables. She has been working for centuries to make a home for the Fables in the mundane world, and has risen through the ranks; working under Ichabod Crane until he left office under painful scrutiny, and then working under King Cole as deputy mayor. This is when you first see Snow, and where everyone sees that even though she tends to think strategically and what is best for the group as a whole rather than for individuals, she is not above abusing her power as deputy mayor on occasion. In searching for her sister’s killer, Snow forces herself into the investigation even though she is obviously too close to the case to be objective, and doesn’t know anything about being a detective; she actually threatens Bigby and uses her higher rank as a tool when he tells her that it’s a bad idea for her to be involved. She attempts to do this when she goes to the Farm to stop a revolt from happening. Though her pulling rank on them only causes her to have a detrimental effect on the situation, causing the non-human Fables to want her dead for a time.
There are other parts of Snow’s personality that come through beyond the icy demeanor she puts up as a front; she has been known to act out of spite or jealousy, especially when it comes to other people’s relationships. When she talks to Beauty and Beast, while he is in his human form but unable to control it, it’s a situation that is very gray and with anyone else, they would have sympathy towards their plight; under Snow’s view, she sees the black and white of it all, and there is a hint of jealousy involved with her decision, by seeing a relationship and marriage that has stood the test of time. It’s something that she may wish for, and she allows it to color her opinion on the couple more then she will ever admit to anyone, not even herself. There are other things that show that Snow is capable of, perhaps not moving on, but of still accessing a place in her that cares for people; when the Fables are taken hostage in the Homelands after they’ve been attacked, Snow protects her sister from the Big Bad Wolf, even though this happens after Rose has slept with Charming. And then, much later than that, when she comes back and offers the Wolf a choice in helping other Fables, she doesn’t let his past indiscretions color her opinion of him; helping to set strict rules in place for him to follow, but helping to have him become sheriff of Fabletown. Hundreds of years later, with Bigby still making romantic advances at her, she carefully allows him one date; it was mostly to see what he was up to in regards to her sister, but she still let herself have a date.
In the end, the biggest thing that changes her from what she once was, to what she has become, and then to go back just a little bit, is the worst thing anything can happen to someone; being shot in the head. This put her into a coma for six weeks, and they weren’t sure that she was going to be able to make it. It was her popularity as a Fable that helped her come back to life, and the first person she saw when she woke was Bigby himself, sitting at her bedside. It cannot be said that she had a complete change in who she was after being shot, but there was a shift in how she felt about certain people; her rehabilitation, learning how to walk again, though she’ll always need a cane to help her, was also an emotional rehabilitation. She slowly began to let other people take on bigger tasks, and her ability to trust others was something that came out of needing to rely on others more then she had been used to. Being unable to do much else but show emotion during this difficult time has helped her grow as a person, and become the Fable she is now; it’s unfortunate that something that drastic had to happen to get her to slowly change, but in the end, it helps her more than anything else. Snow does indeed have a heart, and emotions to follow suit.
Conditional: Personality development in previous game: N/A
Character Plans: Snow will be coming off of an enchantment high as soon as she steps off the baseball diamond, but that won't change her much when it comes to SERO asking questions; status as a Fable remains a secret as always. Once on the island, she won't know what to do at first, seeing as what she's good at, while needed, is not accepted by most non-newcomers. She'll seek out friends, first, and then find a job, and start to settle into the daily grind of SP. Finding out that there are other Fables around, or ones that are Fables but not quite the same as her will make her question a few things, and definitely pull her out of her comfort zone.
Appearance/PB: Snow White is beautiful with dark hair like the stories, but she doesn't have pale skin (at least not as pale as snow) and she also does not look like a young girl. She seems to be in her early to mid twenties, with long dark hair and skin that tans easily.

[There’s a small disgusted sound, followed by a huff of air let out in a drawn out sigh.]
I’m sitting here trying to understand this. Something on this island pulled us here, out of our beds, away from our jobs and lives and families, and then these doctors here have the nerve to be upset at us just because I’m not carrying what they consider proper documentation.
[There’s silence for a moment.]
I can’t believe they would even think to ask for that. There’s a difference between sitting down to an interrogation and sitting down to filling out some paperwork, most of which have questions I wouldn’t put on any paper for people to answer when they’re wet and tired and are done with all of this propaganda.
[Pauses. There’s another soft sigh.]
The last thing I remember is going on vacation. But even that can’t be entirely true. I’ve never taken a vacation in all my years of work.

It was one of those days in the city where everything seemed to be going right. Most days seemed to be in a downward spiral, and there were some days where Snow felt like she wanted to grip her hair and rip it out strand by strand in frustration. By today was going right. It might have been the change in the spring air, the dankness of the Darkness and the morning slipping away in predawn light, giving way to a pale sun that slowly warmed the pavement, and Snow had decided to slip out onto her balcony with a cup of coffee to watch it rise. She was still in her first month of living in the strange and new city, and as she watched steam rise from her mug, she couldn’t help but try and remember the last time she felt this relaxed.
This was idiotic, if she thought about it logically. She shouldn’t be feeling at ease in this place, not when the last thing she could remember before being pulled here was decidedly hazy. Smokey, even, and it was more the sensations that she could remember, ones that made her feel flushed warm and embarrassed. But if she remembered saying she was taking a vacation, then maybe this was it. She was a Fable in a strange land, but this wasn’t the first time she had done that gig. This wouldn’t be the last, either, though she would have preferred her office, or her small apartment in New York City. Taking a sip of her coffee, she sighed, wrapping the light bathrobe around her thin frame. This place, this city, the people in it, they were all ones that she knew on a deeper level then she cared to admit. They were like her, newcomers in a strange land, and Snow could remember the fear and uncertainty that had come with every step. But she had risen above that; she could do it all again. She could fight her way back to the top, if she wanted to, or she could sink back and let others take center stage.
But in the end, Snow knew one thing; she would never allow herself to sink back. She had so much to offer the people here, and while the myth and legend of Snow White and the seven dwarves ran rampant in movies and picture books, she would move past that. Snow would move past her own sordid tale, and in this place devoid of what was familiar, she would come out on top. And speaking of, as she took another sip of her coffee, she turned on her heel, going back into the sparsely furnished apartment that made up her home for now. She had the rest of the day to get started on, and she ditched the cup on her way to the closet; job hunting waited for no woman, no matter the legend. Choosing a navy blouse from her, admittedly small, wardrobe, she picked up a skirt as well, matching colors like a pro. She had a half written resume waiting for her to finish, and five appointments already waiting for her.
A touch of make-up, a few brush strokes through her hair, and she was off on a busy day of job hunting. Which turned out to be a much bigger disappointment then she had thought; sure her good looks and charm got her in the door and through most of the interview, but even once the brain behind the beauty was revealed, she was finding that no seemed to be the most used word in everyone’s vocabulary these days. As she was given another polite ‘don’t call us, we’ll call you’ and pretty much shoved out the door, Snow sighed, running a hand through her dark hair. It seemed, though, that she wasn’t alone; while she had chosen not to ask about jobs over the network, feeling like she had understood what to do and how to do it, she found a small sense of camaraderie in other people who seemed to be in similar situations to hers. She couldn’t help but watch in amusement as someone with pixie like features and ears to match ripped up a piece of paper and stamped it out on the ground after lighting it on fire.
Maybe that was what she needed to do as well. Folding her papers back up into her purse, she went out of the building, hailing a cab. She needed to start back at the beginning; what better place was there then city hall?
