Today was highly eventful.

I told Ms. Marmo that I was cutting yesterday afternoon. Although she has no experience dealing with self-injury, she asked that I stop by this morning to talk. I did, and she made quite a few phone calls before escorting me up to Ms. Murphy's office, where I then arranged to meet with the seniors' student assistance counselor.

I told her exactly what was happening, and she gave me a lecture on how depression is not always caused by external forces. Well, no shit, but I just nodded my head to be polite. And then she read the confidentiality clause and told me how she'd have to tell my parents. Again, no shit.

This afternoon, I had an appointment with Dr. Heslin. While reading up on ear infections in the waiting room, my mother glanced at my wrist, leaned over, and asked, "Um, Catherine, was this an, um, attempt at anything?" To which I promptly replied, "No, dear. The point of cutting is that I don't kill myself." She never looked more confused.

Dr. Heslin wasn't all too worried about my cutting. He only suggested that I keep the cuts clean to avoid infection and watch out for potential scarring.

In other news, Genna is suddenly talking to me again. How bizarre.

It's also National Teachers' Day. When did today get so busy?
