The last forty-eight hours

This song is like an espresso. There's no other way to put it, really. I love it dearly:

"Mysterious, blown in with the night
All this beauty captured in a frame
Visibly shaken, but never stirred
Drives them insane
I see the way she plays her men
And I know I've got to know her name

"She's so beautifully broken
Shaped by the wind
Dangerously twisted
Here I go again

"I see the way she casts her spell
It's like drowning in moonlight
Discards them when she's done
They're lost in her twilight
I watch her move from star to star and I wonder why
Why it feels so right
She's so beautifully broken
You can barely see the flaw especially from a distance
Which is always how I fall
Why do I fall for the dangerous ones
The ones that never learned to let go?
And why do I lie to myself and pretend that I can break her
When she's already been so beautifully broken?
Why do I fall for the dangerous ones
The ones that never learned to let go?
And why do I lie to myself and pretend that I can break her
When she's already been so beautifully broken?

"She's so beautifully broken
Shaped by the wind
Dangerously twisted
Here I go again"

The last few days have been quite the roller-coaster. Yesterday was absolutely fabulous, not counting English. First period was chemistry, and Starr mentioned something about a Halloween demonstration (it's an annual chemistry department tradition). So the class got really excited over the prospect of not working, and I got pumped over the whole concept of chemistry for entertainment. Then Ms. Marmo popped into our class and brought her entire chemistry for artists class (which includes Joanna, Annie, Dana, Raphael, John, Cheyenne, and Amie), plus Bayer's class (which includes Aly and Aleasha). Suddenly, we had ninety people in Starr's classroom, which got a bit crowded. I found Annie, Joanna, Dana, Cheyenne, and Amie hanging around my usual lab bench. I was attacked with hugs and such, and Annie insisted that I sit with her on the lab bench. (Cheyenne kept shooting me these dirty looks. She's so incredibly homophobic.) OK, so then Starr kindly tells us all to shut up and he tells us the story of the haunted stock bottle. I love Halloween in the chemistry department. I mean, who else is willing to set things on fire and make up insanely stupid stories just for our amusement? So he opens this stock bottle and whatever was inside it reacted with the air and produced this really cool vapor. The best part, however, was when Mr. Bayer walked in with full genie garb. Oh, my God, people were pulling out their cameras. (Blackmail, anyone?) It was hilarious. I kept saying, "I work for him, this is so sad." Annie seemed to find my embarrassment amusing. After that, we all went outside to see the highly exothermic KClO3(s) and H2S(aq) reaction (when I say highly exothermic, I mean fire and sparks and intense purple-white light) that was arranged to light up a jack-o-lantern. It was awesome. Then we all went inside and Bayer's class left, but Marmo's stayed to see the gummy bear demonstration with us. We foolishly named the gummy (Wally or Jennifer, depending who you ask) before it was killed viciously in a huge, bright reaction. Poor Wally.

English was sad, since I know for sure that I failed miserably on my vocabulary quiz. Let's skip that.

Spanish was super because I got the highest score in our class (second highest out of all) on the practice test. Go, me, with my awesome ninety-nine! Plus, Chris is back in school, so I got to laugh at him. Whee!

Math was, if possible, even better. Mr. Koch called me "Fertel-Pumpkin" (I drew a jack-o-lantern next to my name on the board) and the quiz was so easy! I feel really good about how it went.

The competition was after school, and after rounding up all my stuff, I had a pretty good time. Trumbull was there, as well as New Milford and Norwalk. One of Norwalk's color guard dropped her flag and cried. It was the scandal of the evening, not counting when one of New Milford's color guard grabbed the wrong flag during a switch and was the only neon flag in the mainly pastel formation.

Thursday afternoon was even cooler, but I don't think I'm going to say why here. No, it's way too personal and complicated. Just know that I am the happiest girl in the world.

That's all for today, I suppose. See you after the party and The Rocky Horror Picture Show!
