If anyone should declare that Balthier doesn't have a romantic bone in his body, please, feel free to smack them and inform them of exactly how wrong they are. He really pulled out the stops on all things romantic the past few days.
When we finally left Las Vegas, with quite a bit more money than we arrived with I must say, I should have known that he was up to something. He ushered me away from the navigation system and told me to go entertain "the boy" as he so lovingly calls Albanion. I was happily trying to avoid my birthday until we landed and he handed me a new
dress and then led me out of the ship to let Albanion baby-sit for the evening!
We stepped onto the streets of Venice where we wandered around for a while before having a very romantic dinner followed by a gondola tour of the city. We ended the night in a cute little hotel and made it back to the ship as the sun and Violet were waking up together, as usual! But, the birthday surprises didn't end there! After we had both had a bit of actual sleep, we were in the air again for phase two: A walk around Rome at twilight. He pulled out all of the stops this year, that's for sure~
The kids even got into the action and I found
this on top of the pile of diapers with a note that it was from Albanion and Violet, though I suspect they had help from a certain pirate that fathered them both.
As for our next stop on our vacation, who knows! Maybe we'll just open up the map and point. Or maybe we'll let Albanion decide as payment for baby sitting his sister while Balthier and I were out having alone time. I think he deserves that much.
