Unfortunately, this is often the case for the underprivileged amongst us. They are the hardest working and are appreciated the least. Without them, we could not thrive, and yet, in their time of need, we do nothing.
[sigh] I know, but... I mean, we're always gonna need leaders, so isn't it the leaders' responsibility to look after the lower ranks? I know that isn't how it always turns out, but it's not right the way some of the others just use the people without thinking about their needs...
It should be, yes. I fear we are somewhat lacking in those willing to step up to the task. Many of our leaders come from the highest of classes in Ivona. The plight of those beneath them often... escapes their notice. People need to be made more aware of the situation before changes will be made.
It's not like none of us from the high classes are paying attention. My ancestor... said to look at soldiers like our own sons, and I think it makes just as much sense for civilian leaders. If the people are suffering, everyone's going to suffer... Some people are just too concerned with themselves and no one else.
I know. I myself am quite devoted to making life more tolerable for those not born into a blessed life. I believe if we were all content to live simpler, less selfish lives, we could accomplish much and make this land into something truly great.
That's a pretty neat way of thinking! I dunno about giving up all the excess, but it's definitely way important to take care of people and be less selfish. I think if we could just set it up so that people who really cared about the people could lead them, everybody'd probably be a lot happier.
Naturally, the extent of sacrifice would vary from person to person... some need their luxuries while others of us are quite content with very little. I would not ask anything extravagant of my fellow countrymen. It is the idea of simplicity that is the most important.
Unfortunately, power in Ivona is largely an inherited state of being, and the upper echelons are no longer composed of the most... robust of men. Still, the possibility that enlightenment may be impressed upon them exists.

I dunno if their "robustness" is what I'd be worried about. There's shady stuff that goes on, you know? And it shouldn't, and I want to put an end to it. But some of us are decent, at least. If enough of us really try, I still believe we can turn things around for the better...

Well, there was only so much I wanted to say on an unsecured channel. You understand, I'm sure. I'm well aware of the corruption in Ivona's government. It has been there for far longer than you or I has existed, and will continue until the greed and mismanagement has ground this country to dust, if left unchecked. I have been working, for quite a few years now, to change the course of our history. I may not see the day when my dreams come to fruition, but I will try for as long as I can to aid my homeland, and hope that when I leave this place, I will have done some good.

Well, we can't leave it unchecked, right? I know... I know what happens to people who make the wrong people mad. I can't just watch that happen to my country, either. That's why...I'll do all I can to make this place better, stronger, more fair.
I can't help people without power, though. And where they've got me these days...
I won't let 'em hold me down. I'll climb back to where I was before, and I'll make things right if it takes me my whole life!

It's refreshing to know there are others who share convictions similar to my own. The rot has settled deep into the cour of our country, and the cure may very well prove painful to us all, but I believe we can make Ivona better, if we are truly diligant.
Indeed. You mustn't let such setbacks dampen your spirit. I myself have faced difficulties from within the system for some time now, but I am striving to do whatever I can to bring us all towards more enlightened times.
