Well, it's really coming down to the wire. I finally broke down and decided I had to take my car in to get the snow tires removed.
In typical fashion however, I did not leave without an issue. I already know that I need rear shocks - I asked them to check anyway. I also already knew that one of my all-season tires had a piece of metal removed from the tire in the fall and therefore was marked. I found out that where the piece of metal had gone in was a big no-no in terms of them returning said tire to my car. Apparently, (this is a learning process for me every time) if a foreign object penetrates on the tread where the steel belt is that's not a problem and can be fixed; but, if it penetrates the wall of the tire, like this stupid little piece of metal did, it's not good as it can cause the tire to explode.
So I had to purchase a new/used tire from the shop which cost me $50 plus the $20 a tire for the remaining 3. I figured it would be about that plus labour - which it came to $130 total.
The verdict for my shocks though came in at "Yes, they need replacing and oh by the way Janine, you know how over the last week you've noticed a little shaking when you are braking. Well, you're brakes and rooters need to be replaced on the front end!" Wicked, so I ask for a quote, I carry on with my day, and notice holy jesus my car is rocking more now than every before (that would be the absences of shocks to stabilize the vehicle). I get home and they have called to quote me out for two rooters, new brakes, two new shocks, hardware, labour and taxes (can't forget the government) for $570 total. If you heard me drop to the floor that's indeed what happened.
Luckily though...I have NO money left. Fortunately though, my parents have an account at this shop and have agreed to cover the cost until I can pay them back.
I have no luck with cars, I seriously don't. I realize that my vehicle is a 2002 and has 195,000km on it and that it's getting to point where it needs a lot of upkeep but I owe less than $2,000 on it.
Hopefully (please send lots of good vibes my way) I can secure a part-time job, plus a full-time job with in the coming weeks so I can start making money!!
