She'd discovered the mansion completely by accident. A large, dark, lonely house whose former occupants (some plucky puzzle-solving protagonist or a brooding old lord, maybe) either died out or decided the place was too creepy even for them.

She'd thought it was perfect. Even the world it was set in was mildly magic-filled so there was no worry of her starving for it. The place could have used a little cleaning, but in the state she was in last night she didn't care at all about a few strewn books and dust.

The master bedroom was huge, and fully furnished. Grey walls and purple carpet were occasionally broken by some piece of age-darkened empire-style furniure: a dresser, a chaise, a wardrobe. An expansive, curtained four-poster bed along the center back wall. Eventually the indistinguishable lump under the covers on that bed starts to stir as the drug-helped sleep turns to a drowse.
