Now that Sam knew that people on the island weren’t crazy, or at least they weren’t crazy cultists who only thought they were from other dimensions and used to have super powers, he figured he owed a few apologies. Well, maybe not apologies, but he could at least go seek out some of the people he met early on that he had kind of avoided because he

She was Wonder Girl dammit, not some damsel in distress.
So, the intensity of her training had only increased since she’d woken up back on the island as if to make up for her wounded pride. But once she saw Sam approaching out of the corner of her eye, she found a place to stop. She stretched for a moment before acknowledging him with a nod and a tired smile, running a hand through the hair that had escaped her ponytail. “Hey Sam, what’s up?”

"Actually, I was going to come here to tease you about thinking you can fly while simultaneously hinting that I realize it's probably true that you could, but I'm sort of a little afraid of you now so I'm not sure what I'm doing here. You, uh, you looked good though. I mean, very... Amazon-y."

While she normally enjoyed teasing Sam, Cassie just smiled lightly and shook her head slightly. "Thanks Sam. And you don't have to be afraid of me. I was just working out a little tension." She rolled her shoulders then walked over to the tree where she'd left her water bottle, picking up the bottle as she leaned Oathkeeper against the tree. "So, someone finally explain the island to you like you'd believe?" She asked before. taking a long drink of water.

"I figure you're all equally delusional and crazy, or you're all telling the truth and since I'd rather not live on an island of crazy people, present company excluded, I figure you all might be telling the truth."
Which was as close to a "you were right" as she was going to get right now. Besides, there was something else he wanted to talk about.
"I did hear though, about a little misadventure that involve you, dinosaurs, and almost being eaten. Now I don't remember, was it you that almost ate the dinosaurs or the dinosaurs that almost ate you?"

To Cassie's credit, she didn't snap at him when he brought up the dinosaurs. After the recent bout of helplessness, the last thing she wanted to be reminded about was when she broke her leg and lost someone close to her. Closer then she should have let him.
Instead, her voice was flat as she asked, "Who told you about that?"

Sam noticed her change in tone right away. He'd only heard her be upbeat and teasing before and the flat tone was startling and made him instantly wish that he hadn't brought it up.
"Uh, some guy, Kon? About as big as a house, only with muscles? Sooooo, training with weapons. Bladed things. With... loopy, pointy things on them. Very cool. Do they have a weapons box, like the clothing box or is that from home?"

When he said Kon's name, her eyes narrowed. Why did it never seem like Kon got just how what happened had effected her? It wasn't a joke, especially when he had been ignoring her under some weird illusion of giving her space and Chekov had broken up with her and then disappeared, all on top of a broken leg. It really wasn't something funny or something she wanted him kidding about with people he barely knew. "Yeah, that's Kon. He's...someone I know from home." And who she really wasn't happy with right now. "Sorry, that's not something I like to talk about it."
Not wanting to upset Sam with her dark mood, Cassie closed her eyes for a moment and took a deep breath before opening them with a small smile as she held out Oathkeeper so the crystal weapon sparkled in the light. "It's not from here and it's not from my home. A friend of mine, Roxas, got this keyblade as a gift from his home and he left it to me when he disappeared. Since then, I've been learning how to use it since I've never really trained with a weapon outside the traditional staff and lasso for an Amazon."

When she mentioned Kon and how she didn’t like to talk about the event, he got a strange feeling that he had inadvertently inserted himself into something private that he wasn’t welcome in. If he didn’t like Cassie so much, he would have made up an excuse right then and there to leave to avoid the massive potential awkwardness.
“Seriously, you’re just training with a keyblade, like no big deal? You know that’s…”
Sam paused. What was he going to say, it wasn’t a real weapon? She had it, it was real.
“Uh, it’s a lot more sparkly than I imagined it. Not that I’ve imagined it before, it’s just, you know, sparkly for something that kills people.”

"Do I know it's from a video game? Yes. Kingdom Hearts to be exact. You've heard of it, haven't you?" Then she held it out him. "Here. Try it. It doesn't have it's magic anymore but it's still indestructible and a fairly effective weapon."
Reply
"Yeah, I have. I, uh, played the game. It's pretty popular," he said, eying the weapon. "You know, I'm gonna pass. Because I'll hold it wrong and will be surprised by how heavy it is because you make it look not very heavy and then there's the awkward moment for me where I realize you have more upper body strength than I do and you'll get that look in your eye that means you're smug but aren't really being overtly smug which just makes it more smug somehow."
Reply
And despite Sam not taking the weapon, her eyes took on the very expression he described, complete with smug grin. "Awww come on. What kind of attitude is that?"
Reply
"Alright, but if you laugh I swear I am never doing anything you ever ask me to do again, okay?" he said.

She moved her hands further up the hilt so she could hand it to him. "Here. I know you want too. If you've played the game, you have too."

"Do you know if Oblivion is here? And does knowing about these now make me not a video game nerd but some sort of badass weapons expert?"
The fact that he didn't look natural at all holding the keyblade was probably enough to answer the badass weapons expert.
Reply
"Oh no, your still a video game nerd. If you knew how to use it, that would be another thing but...yeah." She was kind and didn't go on to describe exactly how he looked holding her keyblade. "And yeah, Oblivion is here. Roxas gave it to Riku when he disappeared, who I think gave it to Zell when he then disappeared. Riku's went home with him." This made her frown slightly. "I went home with Roxas once. Outside of the Disney characters, it didn't seem like a very nice place."
Reply
He wondered if Zell would let him see Oblivion, but he wasn't sure he should ask. It might set his friend off on one of his, 'I'm a real guy!' tirades.
"Yeah, it's... not really a happy place."
