At the call Rock gladly gave control back to Rockman.
"I'm here! MegaMan, cut it out! I've got an idea to split you apart. But I need to get something and for you to work with me. Can you do that?" He had pulled back and was holding onto her arms to make sure was looking at him and paying attention.
She was looking at him, and she was curious, though her eyes still couldn't convey expression directly. MegaMan shrunk back a bit, unlike Aile, she wasn't sure she trusted Rockman, but... She certainly didn't want to go on sharing the same headspace, either. And given how dreary things looked around here... maybe it was time for a change of scenery. She nodded, not having to fight against Aile for once, and in return let her complete a full sentence uninterrupted.
"Okay. Okay. But you can't leave." If he left, she'd be alone. She COULDN'T be alone, not now, not ever.
He wasn't sure if this was going to work, and even less sure that MegaMan would like the idea, but it was all he had at the moment and they needed to be split up.
He sighed but nodded. "You can come with. But you can't wear armor to my house. If we get spotted with you like that it won't turn out well." Luckily, everyone else was at Xao's for dinner but Rockman wasn't gonna take the chance. And it was also a prefect opportunity to get her to call back her armor.
"Take... I can't do that, Rockman. I can't." MegaMan fought back Aile's attempt to protest, she KNEW that it wouldn't work. The emptiness was where the armor used to be, and if she put it back before she took over the rest of her mind... she couldn't.
Aile wanted to disagree, but MegaMan thoughts were too strong for her to even voice anything, so she just shook her head a little more and clung to him even tighter. He was going to LEAVE if she didn't take her armor off, wasn't she?
He sighed again. "I won't leave just because of that."
Speaking in a calm, controlled manner, he continued, "Now why can't you? And I want to hear MegaMan's reason first. Then Aile's. Don't interrupt each other." He'd make an exception if he had to, but he still wanted the armor gone. Less chance for accidents that way.
MegaMan's reason was a very simple one. She just didn't know if it would be good enough. "I'll die." She wasn't quite sure of that, but nearly, and she wanted to see what Rockman would have to say about that...
Aile, on the other hand, was just looking around inside herself with dread. The glow dimmed from her eyes and she shook her head a little. "There's something wrong, Rockman. It's not going to come off right now, not without... something."
Something she didn't know, but something that would hurt.
He frowned and nodded slowly. "Fair enough, it stays on." That didn't sound good but one problem at a time.
"I'm gonna teleport us now. You can hold onto me when we get there but I need to be able to move." With the warning given, he ported to his room.
He needed his hand-held and some hook ups. He still had the patch-kit and some e-tanks in his book bag from when he left in a hurry before and would add a blanket to it. Then he'd write a small note saying he'd be away for a while. He didn't now how long this would take so he put his comm number on the note just incase.
She just clung to him while they were in transit, and watched him closely once they got there, whining softly because he wasn't close enough. At least she could see him, though. See something not in that world, something that would keep her away from it. That was what she focused on right now. She could wait.
Once he had everything he ported off with Aile again. This time to the mountain spot they had found. It was safe and quiet, peaceful. There was also no one else here so the chance of something bad happening was brought down.
He set everything down and hugged her again. "MegaMan, you might not like this idea but I promise to work something better out later. And if you have any better ideas I'll listen. I just think you two really need to be split apart before you hurt each other." He waited to see if there any objections before he told what his idea was.
Which was to move MegaMan's consciousness to the hand-held. It had room for multiple NetNavis so it should have room for a mechanical consciousness as well. But he didn't know her tech and could very well be wrong.
That was something. But not a good something. It was lonely out here. Just her and Rockman, surrounding by all this nothing and if they stepped out even a little they'd fall and die.
Just like inside. Just exactly like inside. MegaMan couldn't move very far without a bridge, and neither could Aile. They were stuck together. Not to mention that if one them left... the mountain might not be that empty. There all kinds of places for THINGS to hide. She grabbed Rockman and squeezed as hard as she could. "I don't know if it'll work," that was Aile voicing her doubt, but... it was lonely out here, it was scary, and maybe letting MegaMan have a turn to talk wasn't the end of the world.
"I don't think it will. Do you have a nice safe bridge?"
He hadn't known she'd react that way but he couldn't find a place with people. It wouldn't be safe.
"Do you want to try? You don't have to. I just don't want you to hurt each other...." He was talking to both of them. He wouldn't force them to do anything they didn't want. He was just afraid that one would want to and the other not.
"I got the same thing they use to transfer Navis. They're real strong so it should be safe." If they did end up splitting, he hoped they could function without each other.
"I... DON'T LEAVE ROCKMAN, DON'T LEAVE, YOU HAVE TO STAY HERE WITH ME! NO LEAVING!" Because if he wanted her to leave and Aile to stay and them to separate then next you know he'd be leaving without either of them and they'd be all alone, even more alone than they were before and Aile knew she never, ever, could be alone again because of MegaMan and MegaMan had never been alone before and she didn't want to have to try it. There had been the few minutes between him and Serpent, but she hadn't been alone then either, exactly, and now he was probably just getting ready to leave and he couldn't leave. He couldn't. "STAY!" She clung to him tight as she could, she wouldn't LET him.
He let out a small gasp of pain before explaining that he wasn't going anywhere. He didn't yell but he did talk loud enough to be heard over her. He wouldn't leave, he wasn't going anywhere and he said so over and over. "If you don't want to do this, say so," he said in a quieter voice. If they didn't want to be apart, they'd have to learn to work together. This was going to take a lot of work.
"DON'T GO! DON'T GO, DON'T..." Aile calmed down a little, enough to be able to pull away from MegaMan and begin saying something else. Which was enough to stop MegaMan as well. "I... don't want her here. But I don't know what else to do, Rockman. I don't want to have to be alone. I don't... I don't want her here, I don't know. I don't know."
"I don't know!" That last one was MegaMan, she thought. Maybe. MegaMan agreed with her on this, and seemed to be staying quiet, but... she just wanted to cry, and so she did.
"It's new to have someone there who never was. It doesn't feel right and you want them to go away. But if they go away you'll feel empty, alone. It can be dark and cold without them there. Is that how you feel? Is that how you both feel?" He was worried but he only showed an outwardly calm. Someone had to stay in control after all.
And he kept hugging her, rocking a little like Rock did sometimes and hoping it would help.
Aile tilted her head, pretty much the only expression of confusion left to her, and the sobbing subsided just a little. Not much, but enough to allow to speak between gasps without too much trouble. Enough to let her try and collect what thoughts she had left to her. And MegaMan wasn't really helping. MegaMan still didn't like her, dammit, and that meant that no matter what she couldn't stay. She just couldn't deal with an enemy inside her own head. But... "I don't think so. Kind of. SHE shouldn't be there, I know it, but... there should be other voices in here. They're not talking, Rockman? What does it MEAN?"
"I'm here! MegaMan, cut it out! I've got an idea to split you apart. But I need to get something and for you to work with me. Can you do that?" He had pulled back and was holding onto her arms to make sure was looking at him and paying attention.
