So last night was hilarious
Nikki and I picked up two Aussies in a parking lot (ripe old age of 21) at 115 am after work
They had pocketsful of alcohols and nowhere to go for the night
Obviously we stepped in to be of assistance
They were beautiful, beautiful men (rugby & football)
Partied with Jesse til the sun came up (not kidding at all)
Then brought the boy home
Sent them off to Ruggles right before class and my final exam
Jesse didn't kick the door down Van Damme style whilst reeking of alcohol like he said he would (slight disappointment)
Overall it was probably the best night I've had since late April
And now all of a sudden I have to check allll of my luggage because fuckin extremists wanna
Normally I don't like doing this but I cannot help it.
The Facts:
1- The people we fight in the "War on Terror" do not have a country, a race, or a government
2- They do not play by the rules
3- They're very busy pissing people off and plotting to impose their way of life on us by any means necessary, even if it causes countless deaths on THEIR side
This sounds alarmingly similar to the United States, does it not? We have a country, but Americans come in all different races, shapes, sizes, languages and religions (if any)
We manipulate the rules to our benefit
We're some of the most hated people in the world and loooove to impose ourselves on others even if it means the lives of our own young men
The deal with Americans is they can be anyone at all-- you never know, looking at a crowd of people, just who in there might be an American. Even in America. In any given crowd with a mix of Americans and foreigners, it would be impossible to distinguish who was who (unless of course you asked them to speak.. Its very easy to spot an American based on speech alone)
Does this not sound exactly like these "terrorists" we are fighting?
In a way, are we fighting our mirror image? If so I'm pretty sure it never comes to a conclusion.
Because we're fighting against people with the same goal as we have- to impose a way of life on others, no?
They want us to die because they think we're an embarassment to humanity (debatable), we want them dead because they resist our attemps to bend them to the wills of globalization and the Corporate West.
How can you condemn and condone what we're doing all in the same breath?
There is no way one of us is right and one of us is wrong, we're either both right or both wrong..
This thought is terrifying and would be far better developed if I had gotten more tha 3 hours of sleep last night.
Maybe later it'll be better developed.
Ugh I have to pack my shit into big red and prepare for the journey tomorrow.
On a final note, a quote from The George:
"The flight continues, a little later on, towards the end, we hear, 'The captain has turned on the fasten seatbelt sign.' Well, who gives a shit who turned it on? What does that have to do with anything? It's on, isn't it? And who made this man a captain, might I ask? Did I sleep through some sort of armed forces swearing-in ceremony or something? Captain?? He's a fucking pilot and let him be happy with that. If those sight-seeing announcements are any mark of his intellect, he's lucky to be working at all. Tell the captain, Air Marshall Carlin says go fuck yourself!"
